I'm finally using the yarn I stashed (ahem)
over a year ago. Boy, it doesn't seem that long ago. :)
I used Ravelry's super duper pattern search to find a cardigan made with sport weight yarn that uses about the yardage I have. I picked
Old Town. I probably want to make the 3/4 sleeved, mid-length version, which means I'm going to need to incorporate 1.5 skeins of another color somehow.
Certainly, I'd love to add in some stripes of Brass Heather (gold) or Blaze Heather (deep orange red), but the interesting modular construction of this pattern might make that a little tricky. I don't want stripes mucking up the lace at the opening.
Maybe I'll branch out into some sort of intarsia? Perhaps some 2 or 3 color slip stitch pattern? I have a little while to consider what to do. I also have a ton of other colors in this yarn, so the back/bottom half of this sweater could end up being something totally unexpected.
Envy is such a great name for this color. I decided to name my project
Hemlock.
I keep trying to make project notes in Ravelry as I work on projects, but then I either loose steam or feel guilty about posting info there and not here. I can't seem to make a decision about that.
I'm very excited about this sweater! The construction is interesting ... top down and seamless, but not raglan or contiguous sleeves. I haven't used this yarn before and the color is just amazing. I'm loving 2012, the year of sweaters for me. :)
