L.A. Craft Haul

I visited L.A.'s Fashion District on vacation.  My faves were Michael Levine and Moskatels (which is associated in some way with Michael's Craft Stores).  Oh, and there was a side-trip to Little Toyko's Kinokunikya.

Seems like such a tiny haul.  I was definitely restraining myself.  Frankly, I blame the heat. ;)  There's some Japanese Stationery, some colors of cotton yarn I didn't already have, two things of very soft cream crochet cotton, some embossed and regular sheets of felt, and two crochet hooks.

I made this hooks and needles card that I carry around in my purse.  Whenever I'm in a craft store, I pull it out and get one or two of the tools I don't have yet.  Very handy!

I could do something like the needles and hook chart, but first I'd have to find all of my needles. My unfinished projects have stolen many of them away!

The embossed felt looks really fantastic. I've never seen that before. The orange would be great for making a giraffe toy.
I have one of these needle and hook charts as well but as I have many ofthe same size in different materials eg. Wood, plastic, metal , plus interchangeable ones, it is just too confusing. I think yours looks really clear which is something i am really struggling to achieve with mine. Any tips?

Alice, I love the idea for the needle/hook card. Can't tell you how many times I've gotten home only to find out I didn't have the right needles, or accidentally purchased duplicates. Could you create a PDF and post it on your site?

I am smiling over here!!! I carry a record of the needle and hook sizes I already own around in my purse too!! Not a graph - a list! but it is invaluable.

Once i got "hooked" on knitting and crochet, I began to realize quickly that each pattern required a different size. As soon as I had accumulated six needles - and one set duplicates - the list was made!

Had to giggle at Seanna Lea's comment - how many of us are in THAT boat!!!

Clever girl you are (I need a list of hooks, needles, sewing thread, I could go on forever)! I see you purchased felt, are you familiar with Salley Mavor? If not, I have a link on my last blog post.

If you are on Ravelry, did you know you can print a hooks and needles chart right from your needles/chart page?

Cori ... I didn't! I just took a look, and it's not exactly what I'd want. I like to have things on 3x5 cards in my Command Center notebook. Also, they have 4 separate charts instead of everything on one page. But still probably a good idea for most people. :) Thanks for pointing it out to me!

That hooks and needles card is purely simple genius. I'm going to make one tonight - because if I just can't home with a 4th set of 8mm needles!
