Peacock Sweater - Done Done Done

The peacock sweater is finally done done done!

I used almost every bit of nine skeins of Patons Grace in Viola.  Near the end, I was using the little scraps I'd cut from other parts of the sweater to finish the arms.  I was afraid they were going to be too short, but they ended up perfect bracelet-length after blocking.

However, I miscalculated where my elbows would be.  I should have trusted my measurements and not my pre-blocked sweater.   The elbows are a tiny bit baggy, but when I have the sweater on with a shirt, they fit just fine.  Whew!  I was afraid I'd have to re-crochet them.

These first two photos of me laughing were taken right after Andrew said, "This looks like the cover of an album I would never buy."  Ha!  I got a huge case of the giggles!

We took these in the courtyard of our apartment building.  I didn't know there would be these gorgeous flowers out there.  The lavender blooms match my sweater perfectly!

It was around 6 or 7 PM when we took these and it was pretty cool out.  The sweater was perfectly comfy.  It's going to be great in the winter when it's chilly out.  And, since it's cotton, it won't overheat me when I'm inside where the heat is on.

I love this sweater!

You did it!! Looks gorgeous! And thanks for being an inspiration to me. I'm in the process of making my first crocheted sweater. It's been slow going since I seem to be making tons of mistakes. But, each time I catch one I make sure to invest the time to go back and fix it b/c I know it will be worth it in the end. Keep up the great work!!!

Wow - it is so pretty and the fit looks perfect! Purple is a good color for you. Do you think wearing something under knitted/crocheted garments helps save their shape? That album comment is funny.

Good job with the styling. I like that there is both contrast with the orange flowers, but also some monochromatic..ness(?) going on with the cement and the lilacs. I absolutely love the colour, in general. It perfectly compliments your hair colour. Which means that it would also go well with MY hair colour. Which means that I need to own something this colour. Which means that I need to go shopping...

I came across your blog and I think this sweater is awesome and great pics, too. I also grew up in the Midwest (but I still live here - MN). I'm also allergic to wool and love making lists. (btw - Does it bother you to knit or crochet with wool? I haven't tried yet.) I used to curse like a rather feminine sailor but I now have 2 nephews and 2 nieces and have revised my swearing to words such as: "yikes", "cripes", "holy cow" and "good grief". Believe it or not, these words can be oddly satisfying. I have not yet pulled "jinkies" out of my repertoire, although "oh my" would be all that's needed in the Midwest.

Just wanted to tell you I love the blog - Thanks!

Heidi ... Hi! Thanks for taking the time to leave the great comment!

I can knit with some wools, but I usually get itchy between the fingers where the yarn runs from my project to the skein. Apparently it depends on how the wool has been processed, but I don't know the magic formula that lets me know what works and what doesn't.

We are twins on the cursing euphemisms, too! Although I won't deny that I drop a war's-worth of f-bombs everyday, but I've found myself saying things I heard my Okie grandmother say when I was a child like, "Oh, for Pete's sake!" and it can be super hilarious ... and satisfying.

Gah! I'm so happy you found my blog. :)
