Giveaway is closed. Jennifer is the winner (the number is part of the comment id number, which was smart of me to include, because there were two Jennifers.)

When
Linda emailed me and asked if I wanted to review her new book,
Little Crochet, I didn't hesitate before I said yes. She is such a nice person and I've always
loved her work.
I don't encounter kids much in my life, but I told myself I was reviewing the book just in case I needed to make some kid-gifts. The truth is, everything in the sneak peek I saw looked so effing cute that I couldn't resist!
The first item that caught my eye was the jingle balls. It's brilliant to create a ball with a hemisphere of shell stitches and a hemisphere of straight striped rows. And I just bought some
jingle bells!
I thought they might be nice gifts for around the office ... as stress relievers. What would would be more calming than chucking a soft ball at the wall and hearing a little jingle bell tinkle as it bounces around?

It's probably a no-brainer that I love the big, cuddly owl pillow. And it's striped, so it's double-kryptonite for me.
She also includes the instructions to make an owl-shaped pillow form and install a zipper in the owl cover so you can take the form out and wash your well-loved owl.
This crochet motif blanket looks pretty involved and detailed. I was totally blown away when I realized there was only one motif pattern that she has you create with different color changes to make it look completely different. Smart!
All of the sweaters and dresses are adorable. They really are. But the garment that gives me little tingles in my chest and an impish smile on my face is the Hooded Capelet in self-striping sock yarn. I seriously want one for myself. It's just too adorable.
I'm a sucker for good graphic design, and this book is very well done. I love the graphical contents listing. The book's layout is amazing. And the photography of all those little kids is wonderful.
If you're looking for a great crochet book full of patterns that look fresh and have clean lines and easy-to-replicate design elements (that look complicated), well then this book is for you.
Giveaway!Leave a comment about crocheting or books or kids or all three ... I will pick someone randomly from the comments to receive a free copy of Little Crochet (compliments of the publisher). I will turn off comments late Friday night.
