Fabric Sale

One of my favorite fabric stores in SF, Fabric Outlet is having a birthday sale.  40% off almost everything from March 12th through the 26th.  I went on Saturday because I've been thinking of making myself some skirts this summer.  No time like a sale, right?!

(I am not affiliated with this store in anyway.  I just love it and have been shopping there since the 90s.)

Here's the haul in all it's glory.  Except for the shoe.  It's just that I got that fabric to match the shoe.  In fact, I picked out a skein of embroidery floss that matched the color of the shoe and took it with me to help me find matching fabric.

This is a drapey polyester.  I love the techie, pixelated print.

This is a light weight cotton.  The print looks very Anthropologie to me.

Since I know someone will ask, the shoe is Aerosoles, Rolling Hills in blue/green leather.  I have no affiliation with them, either. :)

Another drapey polyester.  This one has a brown background.

And yet another drapey polyester.  This one has a black background.

I got 10 yards of waistband elastic.

With 40% off, I couldn't resist some odds and ends: buttons that match those new shoes above; lemon yellow buttons; silver jingle bells (why?!); some wooden beads (also, why?!); and some sterling silver earring hooks.

OMG!?  How did I forget my very very favorite part of the haul?!  It didn't even make it into the group photo at the top.

How amazing is this pre-frilled fabric?!  It's stretchy and covered with tiers of floaty lettuce edge gauze.  I'm hoping that this makes a super-romantic and sweet Spring skirt (or summer skirt ... it depends on how quickly I start making skirts).

This fabric was the most expensive item at $8.09  ($17.99/yard for 3/4ths of a yard with 40% off).  The rest of the fabric was normally $7.99 - 4.99/yard.  I scooted out of there with all of this stuff for less than $40.  I love a good deal!

The Shoe Fabric is my favorite!! It's so fresh and pretty. And I know those drapey polyesters feel good to wear. Can't wait to see the tiered skirt too. An excellent haul - it's good to get to a sale right away so you don't have to wonder if someone already bought the fabric you would have...

Vicki K ... Exactly! And I still have time to go back and get more (more more)! The great thing about the polyesters is that they never fade or wrinkle and they hug your curves just enough. Cottons are nice, but they get so wrinkly. Couldn't resist that floral, though. :)

I don't think you should question 'why' when adding random things to your stash - clearly it's better to buy then to question 'why not' when you need it and you don't have it!

It strikes me as funny in an odd way that last week I laid out a stack of soft knits for a pieced skirt I want to make for this summer...next to a small package of jingle bells I bought on post-holiday clearance. Jingle bells come with built in happy.
As does that white fabric. :)
While I'm saying wierd stuff, when you mentioned a little while back that your spirit animal is a bulldozer or something of the like (which I loved), I drew a cartoon that I've been meaning to scan ..in case you do not yet have a proper cartoon of your spirit dozer.

cara ... That is totally weird. They *are* built in happy, aren't they?! :) I TOTALLY need a cartoon of my spirit dozer. When you get a chance to scan it, please email it to me.

I cannot think of jingle bells without thinking of this awesome fleece hat I bought for one of my friends a few years ago. It has this glorious red and gold bow and multicolored huge jingle bells. It is like a big present and requires ear plugs to wear for more than a morning commute!

I'm uber jealous of your finds/deals. None of the fabric stores here ever have such amazing sales. :(

Love all of the fabrics - so many gorgeous prints. And I actually have the exact same shoes. very cute, AND very comfortable, don´t you think? :-)

Sølvi ... I haven't had a chance to wear it out of the house yet! Can you believe it? The winter here is very rainy, and I don't want to get water stains on them right away. I have to wait until it dries up around here. Also, I don't own anything that matches them. It's a crime.

Is this the fabric store you've mentioned before? A couple of weekends ago we were in the city visiting my sister and I was going to call you to ask where the fabric store you mentioned before was located. But I changed my mind. Too tired to go to the fabric store. Is that even possible?! ;)

Kuky ... There's this fabric store (Discount Fabric at 17th & Mission) and there is a BIG one I like, but I've only been to twice (Fabric Discounters at 11th and Howard in SOMA). Maybe some day we can plan a girls day out for fabric shopping! :)

I'm going to get to spend a day in San Francisco - what do you think is the likelihood that my family will want to forego all sightseeing and go fabric shopping instead?

UK lass in US ... I'm guessing zero likelihood. :) Hope you enjoy your day here! So much to do and see, how will you pick your sightseeing with just one day to do it?

marietta ... Still haven't used the fabric yet ... soon! The fabric store has a bunch of different colors, too. I picked cream so it would match a lot. :)
