Me & The Fennec Fox
Several people have asked about the fennec fox's size. I tried to make him tiny, like a
real-life fennec fox
. His body is 5.25" long and 2" tall. What a heart melter!

He is SO adorable, Alice - well worth all that effort to make him perfect. (I love your super-long braid too...)

He is absolutely adorable ... that ribbon fur is the perfect touch to his ears and tails. I wonder if he waits until everyone is asleep at night to go wandering in the house. ;-)

So glad he is complete, and so beautiful too!
He has been making me nostalgic for visiting the Living Desert. It is a very progressive zoo in Palm Desert, which is about 15 min. from Palm Springs.
If you are ever down that way, it definitely merits a visit. And...they have fennec foxes!
I think Andrew might enjoy the botanical gardens. There are several, representing different types of desert and plant communities. The surrounding landscape is also quite spectacular, and photographic opportunities abound.
I went annually for many years, with varying numbers of children in tow, as I would come to spend time with my mother. She no longer lives in the desert; she's around the corner from me in the mountains of Butte county. It is a great outdoor environment here, but I do miss the desert in spring!!!
Check 'em out!

Cheers :)

Gwen ... Thank you for the link! We'd love to do a road trip down there some day and this would be a perfect stop for us. :)

The fox is fabulous. Really loved how you showed us how it progressed from a few bits of felt into something so real.

Awww.... love him!
And Gwen's comment about the Living Desert reminds me of spring break growing up... we'd visit my grandparents in Palm Springs/Indio and went there a few times. If I ever go back, I'll have to keep an eye for Fennec foxes. They're too adorable.

I absolutely loved your fennec fox and just couldn't resist, I had to try to make one of my own; mine didn't turn out as good as yours but none the less, if you'd like to see its http://fav.me/d4ujzmn on deviantart, i linked to this page; if that's okay.
