CICO Books sent me free review copies of
A Zombie Ate My Cupcake and
Super Scary Crochet.
I love the sugar skull cupcakes on the
A Zombie Ate My Cupcake box. And the kit includes a skull cookie cutter, so you could easily make a batch of skull-shaped cookies and pipe on sugar skull designs.
But the reason I picked this kit is the tombstone cookie cutter. The cupcake idea is cute, with the gingerbread tombstones stuck in "dirt" dusted frosting. But I think you could have a lot of fun with tombstone cookies ... OK, *I* could have a lot of fun with tombstone cookies. Ha!
The book included in the kit has a ton of spooky, gross, funny ideas for cupcakes and includes recipes and instructions. For the awesome one above, it tells you how to make sugar glass.
Overall, this is a fun kit that will help you make stellar scary cupcakes for whatever you may need scary cupcakes for. ;) I guess, most specifically, for eating ... yum!
I asked them to send me
Super Scary Crochet because I was intrigued about what might be in the book. SF doesn't have any big bookstores anymore and the bookstore with the best craft section is the Japanese bookstore, which has a small selection of American craft books. Anyway, I wondered what was in there!
I absolutely love this spiderweb bunting. The fuzzy white yarn is perfect.
My favorite bit of the book is the use of long beads for the shark teeth. OMG are they amazing or what?!
The book offers a wide array of patterns of varying spookiness.
So, if you're not still freaking out about what you're going to wear for Halloween, maybe you could fit some spooky crafting into next week.
