Turning Christmas Up To Eleven

Pam of gingerbread snowflakes turns celebrating Christmas up to ELEVEN.  She posted a tutorial for ridiculously cute marshmallow man ornaments sewn out of felt.  She is also hosting an International Winter Holiday Cookie Recipe Swap.

Around this time of year, she seems to post something Christmasy every day.

Pam is a wonderfully open and generous person.  I'm so happy to call her my friend.  I wanted to do something special for her, so I hand made a small star ornament.  I know she already has a truckload of ornaments, but I thought she could probably find some space on one of her many trees. :)

To make sure my ornament was sweet and childlike, I sketched the star pattern by hand instead of using a template.  On one side I added pearly beads in a burst pattern.  On the other the beads are in circles.  I used beads that would catch the colored lights of the tree and sparkle.

In between the two layers I added a star-shaped piece of card stock for stability. It's a simple ornament that I was able to sew up in an evening with supplies I had on hand.

You are a bright shiny star, Pam!  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Very cute. I really love ornaments, but I seem to have fallen off the Christmas bandwagon this year!

That is very sweet. Nice touch hand drawing the star and adding an embroidered year.

Love it. Great idea for a little project to start -- and finish -- in an evening.

I have come embarrassingly late to this party and for that I am very, very sorry. I feel so loved, Alice. And I absolutely adore my ornament - which by the way has a special place on my tree right next to the Christmas angel - the first "real" (as opposed to glass balls) ornament I ever purchased for my ornament collection in 1972! However, unlike the angel, which gets returned to storage every year, your beautiful star will be hanging on every single version of my year round (seasonal) tree this year and every year.

Nothing against your photography but the photos do NOT do the star you made me justice! It is simply beautiful. And - yes - it does pick up the lights and sparkle like everything.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this for me.

I am determined to read every single post sitting patiently in my reader. So many stacked up while I was on my unexpected break. But this post is a very good example for why I don't just hit the delete button.
