Thanksgiving Debrief

I thought the four-day weekend was going to be full of a lot more rain than it was, but we ended up getting very little rain, which meant I spent a lot of time walking around the city.  And not at home crafting my little heart out.

But I did make progress on my Big Three Projects for  Others.

I've made some serious head way (teehee) on the fennec fox pattern.  I'm excited about getting it all done so I can use the fur ribbon on the right as the tail.  I LOVE the fur ribbon.

I must share a link to this image of a fennec fox wearing another fox as a hat.

I finished reading June's Amigurumi bookand made a mushroom Monday night.  I'm ready to write my review!

This is my side of the couch after some clean up, believe it or not.  I did swap out the fingertubes of one of Andrew's gloves.  I made them originally with a chunky weight yarn (5) which forces his fingers apart at the joint and are uncomfortable.  The new fingertubes are in a lighter DK yarn (3).  I did one glove, which is going to get some test-wearing before I redo the other glove's fingertubes.

The unredone glove is in the image above sitting on my Tunisian purse, which I worked on a little.  The tan acrylic I used for the mushroom is there.  You can see the loops of an in-progress Conan which I am compelled to make.  Just this weekend I saw TWO loopy crochet items at Urban Outfitters (a gigantic cowl and a hat).

The pile also contains two (two!) hats that are complete duds.  One a crochet hat and one a knit hat.  Both in the same cream yarn.  I spent a lot of time on Ravelry looking for the perfect hat pattern and ended up creating these two from scratch.  Sadly, neither works.  Apparently all hats pale in comparison with the hat I made, and lost, last year.

Isn't it funny how you end up looking forward to chilly, wet days so you'll be "forced" to sit inside and craft? Right now it's a perfect day for lots of creativity - I always love the feeling of shining out the gray with lots of colorful fabric - but for some reason I'm supposed to write a lab report instead. :/

I can't wait to see how the Fennec Fox turns out! Your crafting, though, looks rather more organized than mine.

No, really. ;)

The mushroom looks fantastic!!! And oh my God, are those guinea pigs on the book cover? I guess it's time to start improving my crochet skills...

Wow! You're doing so many things at once! But your place looks tidier than mine!
I have so many things lying near my favourite sofa in the living room for so long that it's a wonder that my dear toddler hasn't touched any of them yet - I think he thinks there are fixtures!

I love those amigurumis but they look intimidating to me! Can you recommend an easy shape or animal to start with? I love that mushroom you did, but it looks like it would be complicated with the decreasing and increasing that be happening...?

Craftily Tiffany ... The increasing and decreasing is totally easy. Really really. And June's directions are good, too. She has some patterns on her site you can try out http://www.planetjune.com/blog/free-crochet-patterns/ which include several easy shapes.

I can believe your side of the couch look. Why? I cleaned off my sewing table after a year (I know it's been a year, there was last year Halloween costume fabric there) and it looks like your couch. Except worse. :)

I've had crochet garlands on the brain lately, and I was thinking, what about a loopy crochet garland? I may just have to try it. And I kind of love you for making a Conan. :) Please share pictures when it's done!!!

Kristen ... A loopy garland is a great idea! I will definitely post pix of my Conan once it's done. Now I just have to finish it before it gets warm again!
