CRAFTING IN PUBLICI don't have any pix from last week's Crafting In Public. There were a handful of us, and only two (and a half) of us had costumes.
Nicole made THE cutest gnome hats, with mushroom appliques, for her and the friend she brought. That counts as one and a half.
The night before, I decided to go as Pippi Longstocking and whipped up a scrappy scarf. I was going to braid my hair when I got there. That counts as one more.
I didn't quite have the ... let's say "gumption" to actually follow through and dress up at the cafe. I guess I could have taken some pictures of us anyway, but I was having too much fun crafting and talking to remember to pull out the camera.
Oh! And Anne crocheted a beard while we were sitting there. So that would count as another half of a costume. Right? Three costumes all together!
Well, at least I have an instant costume next time I have an opportunity to
chicken out at the last minute dress up. ;)
GET IT DONE WEEKENDMost of last weekend was rainy and miserable. I decided that I would finish as many of the 9 WIPs that I could. I did pretty well. I finished the 6-color spiral market bag, the secret project , one girl glove ... and I started a 10th project (I can't tell you about it, yet), but I also finished it, so I think that's OK.
I finished 3.5 of 10 projects. I think that's pretty good for a weekend. I didn't take any photos of them for this post. But I'll tell you about them later.
SHAPES AND SIZESThis isn't crafty ... I am totally in love with the new album by
Shapes and Sizes, Candle to Your Eyes. The awesome thing is, I think most people would love it, too, if only they had a chance to listen to it. It's infectious and beautiful.
Their previous albums are awesome, but challenging: experimental with strange music and strange singing. Awesome, but probably an acquired taste. But this album, while 100% a Shapes and Sizes album, is full of lush familiarity.
Gah. It's awful trying to use words to describe music. The words are never right. If you're curious, listen to the song Tell Your Mum above. You can also download the
free MP3 on their website. It's a great song, but I love almost all the other songs more than that one. And the song Old World; I love it double.
If you like them, I urge you to buy their album. I really want them to succeed because I want to see them live again. They are a
great show ... even when they only play for a half hour. Seriously magical.
