Diane of
Craftypod and her sweet Mom, Pam Harris of
Gingerbread Snowflakes, record a podcast every year around Christmas, and it's one of the highlights of the holiday season for me. In
this year's podcast Pam said that she had the whole year's blog posts planned out already.
For 2010.
I know!
She said she had a note book with a page for every month, and when she has an idea, she makes a note on the appropriate page so she won't forget it. (This is just from my recollection of the podcast ... the reality may vary.) What a brilliant idea!
When I heard that, it made me think about the fact that every year when it gets cold I remember a project I designed in the mid-90s that would be simple and fun to post on my blog, but it's always too late. I think to myself, "Next year!" But I never remember.
All of that has changed!
I set out the other day to find a notebook to keep my crafty notes in. And, boy, did I find one. You'd think that I would be immune to ... or even sick of ... cute little deer and mushrooms. But I'm not. And the cross-stitched heart sealed the deal.
In my defense, I wanted a wire bound notebook that I could open flat with good paper for sketching, and the deer notebook is that. Not to mention the handy elastic closure, which is just a bonus. Plus, it was 40% off, too.
Argh! I swear I'm a grown up. :)
The idea is not to be pretty (as you can see), just organized. I wrote the name of the month and year at the top of the first twelve pages and added the start day of each of each season and some of the major holidays on the appropriate pages.
I've already made the note for next winter to develop my secret project (finally!). I'll keep adding projects as they come to mind. I'm also going to go through my list of "someday" projects and see if I want to queue them up for this year.
I'm excited to see how this all works out. I always felt silly that I released the
Supercute Sea Creatures in November. :/
If you're keeping track, this is my first purchase of 2010. Yay!
