Halp! When I (left-)click the 'one time only download link' I get a pop-up asking if I want to 'search' or 'save' a file named 'download.aspx'.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance :)

Nevermind, I'm just stupid :D
Guess I forgot to install Adobe Reader after I re-installed Windows yesterday. Sorry!

I'm not supposed to be crocheting at the moment (elbow issues) but how on earth am I supposed to resist this? Thank you so much!

Thank you sooo much for this, Alice. I have loved the Starling handbag since I first saw it on here, years ago. Can't wait to start crocheting!

Thanks a lot for making this a free pattern! I'll totally begin to crochet today.
In other news: I told my husband yesterday that, after our marine Christmas tree that I made last year with your sea creatures, I decided to continue the felted adventure this year. There will be african animals this time I think (rrroar!)

Thank you so much Alice!
I just realize that your other downloads will make great appliques for the handbag. Need to buy fabric for the lining. Part of the reason I really love your bag designs are the fabric lining. So adorable!

Xanthe ... The "Ack! It didn't work. What do I do now?" section on the free downloads page tells you exactly how to deal with this problem:
If your browser downloaded something with the extension .ashx and says it can't open it, change the extension to .pdf and see if it will open.

Hooray! This is so exciting! I am so sad that I have to go to work right now instead of starting my Starling Handbag!! Thanks, Alice, for all the work you put into this. I know it will be an excellent pattern! :D

Congratulations on getting the pattern finished - I know it was a huge undertaking! Soon the world will be overrun with Starling Handbags, just like it is with its namesake bird (only in a good way in this case, haha!)

Awesome!!! I've only crocheted blankets and a few hats, so this is something totally new for me. Your tutorials are amazing and I think I could even handle sewing a lining and putting it in! I'll have to start this after I finish a baby blanket!

Not to be annoying, but I thought you might want to know about a typo. Not a big one, but at the end of row 3 it says "sl to first sc of row", where you might want it to say "sl st to first sc of row". Easily fixed, and everyone knows what you meant.

I was wondering if you were going to come up with the graph version of this pattern. Similar to the Japanese Crochet Patterns. Thank you.

Debby ... Thank you for the great typo check! That's exactly the kind of thing I want to hear about. :) Exactly.
Lei Anne ... Yes, I want to do a graphic version of the pattern. I'll add it to a later release.
Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful enthusiasm! I can't wait to see your very own Starling Handbag creations! :)

This is soo awesome! I'm working on mine right now (half way done, sugar 'n cream, not sure if I have enough for a whole small bag). It's looking really great! Thank you so so much for putting the pattern up! :) And making it free...you're amazing!

Yay! I finished mine (at 2:30 in the morning...)!! I'm so happy with it! :) I haven't lined or embellished it yet, but I will soon! I found no mistakes in the pattern (but you mentioned to weave in end twice though). I accidently ended up with 2 st less going into the sides, but that was my fault. I'm so tired, but I took some pics (not that great in the dark)! I've already put my project on Ravelry! :)

okay, I guess I'm way toooo beginner! Even with your detailed instructions I'm completely lost! I managed to work through the First Row of the Bottom part but I'm not even sure if I'm doing it correctly! Now I'm completely lost in the second row. Is there any chance you can do a video tutorial atleast to show the first 2 rows of each part of the bag to let the beginners like me get started ?

skhan ... I plan on doing a video crochet-a-long and showing how I do every single part of the handbag. I'm not sure when I'll be able to start doing that, but it's definitely on the list.
