Flower Purse - Update 17

I've been sorta avoiding this post ... because I just don't know what to say.  Well I guess there's one thing to say ...

I'm done!

I finished sewing in the lining two weeks ago right after I wrote my last update.  Since then, my sweet purse has been sitting on the ironing board (in the bedroom) where I occasionally pick it up and cuddle it.  I'd like to go to the park with Andrew and do a little fashion photo shoot with it, but I'll have to wait until it's no longer parka weather.

But now that I'm done with it, all the interest in writing about it is gone.  Don't get me wrong, I love this purse more than I can say.  Everything about it is perfect.  If I saw it at the store I would buy it and love it forever.

I find it strange that when I finish a project, no matter how well executed or how wonderfully it turns out, it just drops out of my head.  Gone.  I don't even miss it.  While I was working on it, I thought about it all the time, but now I only remember it when I see it on the ironing board.

Are any of you like that, too?

In spite of my post-project amnesia, I love-love-loved having you follow along as I showed you every tiny stitch I made along the way.  Even though I'd be crafting regardless, having you here makes it 100 times more fun to make stuff.  I definitely want to do the weekly updates for my next big project!

This is beautiful! I love bags and I even love making bags (as you see from my blog). I am sort of like you, when I finish the project, I will leave everything behind (but not the bag) and I dont even bother to clear up my "aftermath" table, LOL...
I would like to follow all your updates as long as I could, you are fantastic :))

I love the purse, and you did a great job. I really love the lining fabric, and following along. It's like a crochet-along without me having to do the work :) I totally know what you mean about losing interest -- sometimes I am so over a project I don't want to use it. I think a cool stashbuster swap would be the yarn you end up hating because you're so sick of a project.

Most great artists are like that, including some of the best painters that the world has seen.

This is why its important for you to have an outlet where you can just create your pieces of art and let admirers buy them, so that you can keep moving on to more and more interesting projects.

However, a picture in the park to show off this beautiful purse is something I am really looking forward to seeing. It's gorgeous and it should be modeled out for prospects to lure over!

I would love to see a picture of your craft room as well one day.

In the past I have got totally sick to death of seeing a project and when I complete it I always think it's terrible, but then when I come away from it for a few weeks and look at it with fresh eyes it (most of the time) looks great - I was just sick to death of it :@)

Well done :@)

Congratulations on finishing the bag - it looks great. I have that post-project amnesia too. To me I guess that means that I'm more interested in the craft process in itself, more so than having the biggest number of finished items :-)

Thanks so much for your comment on my pom pom serial killers! I was especially excited to get a comment from you, since I've been lurking on your blog for a month or so now.

I'm so excited about the finished purse! It looks fantastic, and I really appreciate your detailed updates! Congrats on the completion of your beautiful bag!

It IS perfect! Congratulations on this gorgeous, beautifully-constructed bag! Thank you for all the detailed updates along the way - I enjoyed the journey, and can appreciate the finished bag even more, knowing what went into it.

I'm with you - the minute I finish something, it becomes invisible to me. I'm all about the process, not the product.

That purse is so so so sweet. I really love it. I was thinking before, and will say so now, that it would be nice to have a sidebar link that would go directly to the entire series. I kept thinking, man, this is a great insight into how to figure out a tricky lining, or man, I never would have thought to measure the flower rectangle before I started sewing it up...etc.

I often get so excited to send something on to the intended recipient (I amost always make stuff for other people, though I'm trying to do more for ME lately!) that I forget to even take a picture of it. Then it's like it never happened. :)

This is such a friendly bag. Isn't that what Meg Ryan called daisies in You've Got Mail? The friendliest flower? :) I also love the accountability that blogs give... although I have a lot of projects to follow up on. I think about them constantly, now I just need to find the time to do them! When do you find you do the most crafting?

I love it! You did such a great job on this bag! I loved tuning in every week to see where you were with the purse. I get the same way with a project. I'm all about it the whole time I'm making it and then when I'm done, I'm like, "oh, that ole, thing...ha ha!" Great job! Can't wait to see what's next.

This is so sweet but not in a pastel kind of way. I love the lining too. Did you include directions for this somewhere? I also tend to put projects aside when I'm done. And, to put aside hobbies after exhausting myself. It's something I'm trying to change.

Yahoo!!!!! Amazing job! Good for you for sticking with it and finishing that lovely purse. I haven't been checking craft blogs for a bit....I went to Costa Rica, Taiwan, Japan, Hawaii, and Tennessee, and now I'm in Connecticut, but I'll be home soon and I'll probably stay there for a while. Hope you are doing great.

lilly ... Hi! Sorry to disappoint you, but there isn't going to be a tutorial for how I did these handles. I made them over 2 years ago and I didn't take notes. If you look at the other posts, you might get some hints about what I did and figure out a process that works for you. I'm sure you can figure out something cool. :)
