More Thread Crochet

I had to fix a shirt-hole, which required white thread.  The only white thread I could find at that time of night was a sewing kit from the drugstore, which came with mini spools of assorted colors.

So, since I *had* to buy the set, that means it doesn't count towards my craft spending, even if I did end up crafting with it ... teehee.

I decided to try crocheting by mixing a blend of three colors ... brown, tan, and yellow.  It actually came out looking pretty cool.  The thread was a lot softer than the black thread.  I really liked how it worked out.

I still have no inspiration on what I could actually *do* with this stuff.  Any ideas?

Looks like a hanging basket for a hummer's egg to me. I don't think my eyes would like that small work too much!

Both of those items could embellish gifts. You could add ribbon to the black one. If you add white muslin inside the brownish one, you could add a little candy.

The first thing I thought of was a pretty lacy edging for washcloths. One of those, a scrub brush and a bar of fancy soap would be a really nice Christmas gift. I think you'd probably have to test and see how (the edging) washes up and if it distorts. Hmmmm. . .(mental wheels turning, hands rubbing together in anticipation) another craft project in the wings!

For something really cool to do with thread, see Annie's Attic book, "Painted Doilies" by Ferosa Harold. Awesome!
