Flower Purse - Update 15

This afternoon I curled up on the couch with the sun coming through the blinds and spent a little time weaving in the ends of the pleat stitching.

Before anything.

I tied each set of ends in square knot.

I threaded the ends onto a needle.

I buried the ends in between fabric layers and trimmed the excess.  I did it on the pleat side of the stitching.  It doesn't have to be pretty because this side of the lining is going to be against the crochet bag.

Do you worry it may come undone? I just finished a dress for Isabelle and I didn't want to do the back and forth thing on the sewing machine. So I just tied a knot but I was worried that it would come undone. So I put some fray check on it. And now the little knot is hard and uncomfortable like a needle and I may just have to cut it off. Yikes.

Ah! burying the ends in the fabric! Weird, I do this with knitting/crochet etc, but never think to do it with sewing. (I cut them off, am I going to hell?) Thanks for the tip

Dear futuregirl,

You have more patience than anyone I know. And I'm sure all your hard work will produce the most beautifullest purse ever. But sheesh...you've been working on that bag forever!

Looking forward to the finished project,
Carol

Hi there,
I like this part of finishing my projects...it is so satisfying to make all those loose threads neat and tidy. I can't tell what type of needle you are using, but I have learned that using a self-threading needle makes it really easy to work with short thread ends. I stick the needle into the fabric, right where I want it and as close to the end of the stitching line as possible, and even if the thread ends are really short, I can still thread the needle and bury them.
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished purse!
