Eco Crafting and a Big Ass Giveaway

When we lived in Salt Lake City, one of the highlights was getting to attend the Sundance Film Festival.  We mostly saw films in the valley, but we always had at least one or two screenings in Park City.  Park City is beautiful, and during the festival you totally see movie stars just walking down the street in broad daylight.  It's a big change from day-to-day Utah living.

And just to show you how popular crafting has become, this year at the film festival Mark Montano hosted an event called “The Green Lodge,” which focused on eco-crafting by using products that can be recycled, upcycled and restyled.

If I still lived out there, I totally would have tried to use my high-powered craft-connections (ha!) to crash this celeb-studded event because *look* at all those awesome craft supplies!  Can you imagine the goodie bags those girls got?!

A project they were making at The Green Lodge was the Urban Corsage from Mark's book the Big Ass Book of Crafts (which I reviewed about a year ago).  It's a simple, stylish project which is perfect for using up treasured scraps you haven't been able to part with.

You can find the easy directions on the Eclectic Products blog.  The project features EcoGlue which, among other things, is vegan.

What is that you said?  You don't have any EcoGlue?  Well, fret no more ...

Big Ass Giveaway

Leave a comment on this post telling me all the great things you can do with EcoGlue and you would have a chance to be one of 5 (five!) winners of a package that will include one each of EcoGlue, Amazing GOOP Craft, E-6000, and QuickHold.  Open to residents of USA only.

I will stop accepting comments at midnight on Sunday, February 1st.  To find out what time that is where you live, choose your time zone next to the heading "Select place to convert to" on this page at The World Clock.

I'll announce the winner on Monday, February 2nd.

For more about EcoCrafting, check out CraftyPod's latest podcast on Crafting Green.

Full Disclosure:  I will be getting my own Eco Glue, but that's it.  I normally wouldn't accept anything, but you might remember from my challenge post that I just ran out of glue.  It's synchronicity, no?

I would use the Eco Glue to glue my kids to the wall. I assume that's one of it's approved uses. What? It's been a long day. Even though it's only 10 AM. After the kids were stuck to the wall I would do a little crafting.

Collages. Gluing things to art journals. Gluing things I meant to glue into the art journal to my hands. Probably mostly the latter.

I'm a grad student intern at an elementary school, and I could use the EcoGlue for any materials or activities, instead of using the standard Elmer's that the school has on hand.

I would use it to glue a big ugly sign to my neighbor's car that says:

"The next time your car alarm goes off at 5 AM just because some car drove by with a puny stereo system or some kid sneezed when they walked past I am going to key your doors and slash your tires. Sincerely, your tired neighbor"

seriously neato sounding glue!! I would use it for jewelry making - I love sticking gears and buttons together. Zap a Gap, while I usually love it is not always as reliable as I'd like.

I would totally use EcoGlue for all my crafts that I make as gifts, especially because I do have a lot of vegetarian/vegan friends and I'm sure they would appreciate it :)

Hmm...I'd start out with some hair bows for my daughter, and then I think I'd do a mosaic border around some boring mirrors we have around the house. Hmm...then glue together the vintage Christmas ornaments in the "what-not" drawer- they fall apart every year! Then I'd finish making the beaded boutonnière buttons for an upcoming wedding jewelry order (shh- that's a surprise!)

Well, to be honest, I love E-6000, but every time I try to use it, I end up gluing the cap back on the tube and I can't use it again.

I'm in need of a new Valentine's wreath for my front door. Oh, I just picked up a neat picture frame from the thrift store. It needs a little sprucing up. I have all those leftover tins from Christmas cookies, they're so one season and really need made into something I can happily store craft bits and bobs in. Then again... Yep. There's always another project just waiting for me.

The only glue of these that I have used is the E6000, and I loved it. The only problem was the smell. I would love to try the Eco-glue, especially if it worked as well as the E6000 but with out the air pollutants!

There are some great idea on here! I'm thinking that instead of gluing my children to the wall I might glue myself instead... Or at least a robe or something that I could slip into at convenient times, like when it's time to take kiddos to school & classes & stuff. Then I could inconspicuously slip out at nap times (for more gluing and crafting), cookie making time, & snuggle time. Oooooo, the possibilities are endless!!

I would make cute valentines for my husband, my niece, and a few other family members with my Eco Glue! (I'm definitely not an 'anti-holiday' type of gal - I live for holidays!) But I also would mention that a friend just sent me a used envelope that she reused by simply opening it up (VERY carefully), inverting it, and then adding a touch of glue to the sides and the main seal. I almost didn't notice that it had been used once already! I thought that was so cool. So I would use my glue to try this also.

Well, I'm participating in the next International Fiber Collaborative project (a full-sized fabric tree), and I need water resistant glue to make a bunch of fabric leaves. The fact that the glue is eco-friendly would make my contribution all the more fabulous!
