I'd hate to give you the impression it's all cactus-fun and goodies-in-the-mail around here (not that I'd complain if that were true), so I thought I'd share some crafting ...
This is a mini-me doll I made for my boss' birthday*. He totally wears a green shirt that exact color with white pearl buttons. He sports a long black ponytail, too. While he was in a meeting, we set up the cake and mini-me in his office to surprise him when he returned. It was too much fun! And too delicious! Ahhh, buttercream icing, how I love you.
In the top picture you can see the word balloon I made for him, "It's My Birthday!" Mini-me's Maxi-me already has a stack of blank word balloons at the ready (which he cut out himself from upcycled paper!). So far, mini-me has wondered "Why don't I have arms?" Since one of our favorite things to do at work (besides working, of course!) is yelling "FAIL" (OK, it's mostly just me, but people are starting to join in ... ) I fully expect mini-me to be sporting a FAIL balloon eventually**.
I used the body/head pattern from
Creepy Cute Crochet. I started to do the yarn hair, but OMG I didn't have the patience to figure it out. My one attempt unraveled in my hands. I actually like the way the long felt strips look and they give the impression of hair without all the fussiness of individual strands of yarn.
* My boss actually reads and comments on my blog. And he's a dude. Pretty cool, huh? Yeah, I think so, too. :)
** I love-love-love FAIL blog. But I should warn you that LolCats, ManBabies, and Catladies also move me to spastic giggles. You have been warned.
