No Time For Love Dr. Jones

UPDATE:  The Starling Handbag crochet pattern for the purse above is now available on the free downloads page.  Yay!

After getting the box o' yarny love from Shannon last weekend, I *had* to do some crocheting.  The package contained a wonderful variegated yarn that I really wanted to see as a handbag.  There was some major blue-pooling when I was doing the base which I wasn't loving (see bottom right in photo).

I noticed that the green didn't look like it was pooling, just the blue.  Like one was negative and one was positive.  There was a skein of green in the box, too, so I decided to do every third row in the green to break up any potential blue-pooling issues.  It worked like a charm!

Did you notice the solid green rows before I told you about them?  I started and finished this on Saturday.  How long do you think it will take me to find the perfect lining fabric?  My money's on late November.

WOW! I really didn't notice the all green rows until you said something!! I don't really care for variegated yarn but I do love these colors!!

Gorgeous. As always, Alice.

I noticed the green, but you did it in a way that defied the "intentional" part of the pattern, which means you got exactly the effect I think you were hoping for. I envy your vision, girlie.

(And stop posting about bags. I covet them so badly. This is almost like a tease ;) )

You're so clever. :) And you've reminded me to peek into the fabric store next time I'm in town. You never know what you'll find...

love your site!! I recently made some bags, too. I needed a book bag, it turned out great, haven't put it on the blog yet, but will soon.
