Isa The Owl Enabler

Isa was the very first person who asked me to swap.  She has a very special place in my heart.  And, last week I got a special surprise package from Germany.

She always sends me incredible chocolate, which I try to make last ... but it's usually gone in about 3 days.  This time it was a delicious mocha flavored bar.  So good!  So gone ... so no pictures of it.  The theme of the package was Owl.

OK, there aren't enough words in the world to tell you how I feel about this embroidery.  My name in branches?!?! The cutest owl ever?!?!  The moon?!?!  Autumn leaves?!?!  Seriously.  I can't explain how perfect this is.  I need to get it up on my craft wall ASAP.

Then there are these (I'm guessing) vintage owl pins and a needle felted owl.  How adorable!  Andrew asked me how the owl was made and I tried to explain needle felting.  I never thought about it, but it is a weird process ... "But how are the wings held on?"  "You poke the wool with a needle."  "How did it get so solid?"  "It gets harder as you poke it with the needle."  See?  Weird.

She also included a German children's book.  I have the best German children's book collection because of her.  This one is about an Owl (Eule) and a guy with World's Best Mustache™.  The art in this book is so amazing it makes me want to rip out all the pages and frame them.  Just look at these pages:

Thank you, Isa!

I'm starting to get convinced that the male species is incapable of understanding the process that is needle-felting. I've tried to explain it twice to my husband, traditionally quite intelligent, but he still has yet to get it. Perhaps it's my explanation.

Perhaps not.

Perhaps I should hope that he doesn't read this.
