Snazzy Peacock Suit

Don't you just love this poster?  What a snazzy suit!  I posted a close up on Flickr.  I spied it on our way to Kinokuniya in New York last weekend (excuse the window reflections).  I was shocked when we got to Kinokuniya's Rockefeller Center store and found it CLOSED!  There was no note on the door about moving or anything.  So sad.

Instead, we decided to go to Coliseum Books on Bryant Park ... which has been closed for over a year.  Ack!  As we were walking around Bryant Park,  I got some great lion photos at the library.  Actually, I got lots of great architectural animal photos, posted on Flickr, including a secret owl that I didn't see until I looked at the photos on my computer.

Anyway ... as we were coming around the last corner of Bryant Park ... we discovered Kinokuniya's NEW LOCATION.  Whew!  What would New York be without the Japanese book store?!?!

It's so much bigger.  I remember when the Rockefeller Center's craft book section was four tiny shelves.  Now it's a whole huge section downstairs.  And their stationery and super-cool office supply section has EXPLODED!  I'm so lucky that I had zero dollars to spend because it would have torn me to pieces to have to choose what to bring home with me.

As I said on the flickr photo, I want a suit like that dude's. Because then I would be covered with EYES, like Argos Panoptes.

Wow, you almost gave me a heart attack :) Thanks for the new location. Have you been to the Book Off (14 E 41st between Madison and 5th Ave)? It's so cheap. Used books, pretty good craft section.

That poster reminds me of a book page I have from an altered book that's laying on my floor because I don't know what to do with it! I'll need to scan it to show you sometime. :-)

Thanks for mentioning the bookstore moving... when I go to NY I like to visit there, or the one in the mall (at the Palisades' mall I think it is?)

Wow. I want a suit just like that. I'd wear it grocery shopping.

PS - I'm so tired... first time I tried to type "wear" I typed "weird." The second time I tried to type it I typed "ware." Finally, on the third attempt, I got it right. Time for bed, I feel sure.

Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea they moved. I am such a bad New Yorker!

Oh man! I never knew what crafty peeps were talking about [regarding craft book spending] until I went to the Japanese bookstore in San Francisco's Japantown last week. Holy smokes, there are so many goodies there! It was hard to pick just a few.
