When the publishers offered me a free review copy of
I [Heart] Felt, I couldn't say no, even though I don't knit and I'm allergic to wool. I just *had* to see what was behind that cute, cute book cover.
I was not disappointed! I [Heart] Felt is a bright, fun, and well-photographed book. The graphic design is dynamite, too. But the best part is Kathleen Taylor's writing and approach. She's a control freak after my own heart.
Her project instructions are detailed and thorough while still giving you plenty of room and lots of encouragement to follow your own inspiration. She also *insists* that you swatch, experiment, and make notes about everything you do. I totally imagine her in a lab coat with a clip board.
The book is colorful, educational, and it's graphic design is fun. Everything about this book makes you feel full of energy, confident, and ready to create.
And, for those of you that like to point out that it's not "felting," it's "fulling," she educates everyone about that in the first sentence of the book ... I'm looking at you BB. ;) For those of you that like to felt/full/shrink your wool, you've gotta check out this book!
Here are a couple of my favorite shots. It's probably not surprising that they're handbags ...
