Fish Bowl

My first semester of college, I took a pottery class.  I loved it so much!  I gave away most of the stuff I made and I've lost or broken the rest.  The bowl above, named Fish Bowl, is in my father's possession.  He actually uses it!  I was having fun with slips and colors.  I liked trying to get a nice marbled look to the colored patterns.

My favorite piece from the class was a small fluted vase (it's long gone ... ).  I'd been trying to make a fluted vase (similar to this shape) on the wheel for days, but I kept popping off the top every time I would pinch in the top to make the fluted edge.  The day I made this particular vase, the electricity went out in the building at the moment when the vase was perfect and saved me from ruining it.  How awesome is that?!

Gorgeous bowl!!

And, perhaps, you need Andrew to come and "interrupt" you at the critical moment with this pot, too?!

(OK, now I am picturing an impromptu Ghost reenactment ;) *slaps her own forehead*)

That's very cool. I've never tried pottery. But Alan did in high school and we still have two of the vases he made.

Artistic Intervention through Power Outages. It sounds like some happening from the Japanese post-war Experimental Workshop/Jikken Kobo.

The bowl is beautiful.

I love the glazes you used. Do you remember what kind they are? Sometimes divine intervention is a good thing!

Goodness, me, Dawn Elizabeth, that was 17 years ago! I wish I knew, too. I'd love to get my hands back into some clay. I'm going to look into the classes Andrea mentioned. :)
