Flower Purse - Update 9

The first part of the handles that are crocheted are the bit across the long sides of the purse rectangle.  Those 9 flowers' petals get gathered as you single crochet through multiple petals at a time.

Can you believe that 23.5" becomes 9"?  Below is the transformation from rectangle to half-purseness.

Holy cannoli, Alice. It's looking great!

(betcha don't think the bag's super-massively-hugemungous now ;) )

Hi there!!!!! Your purse is looking very snazzy! I've been super busy so I haven't spent too much time online lately. I was just looking through all my favorite fun stuff and saw that you were a featured artist on whipup! Cool! That's awesome!

I'm so impressed. Not only with the way the bag is looking so far, but with the fact that you're able to decipher the Japanese crochet books. I have a few, but have yet to attempt anything... too timid, I guess.

Do you realize just how happy I am that you're posting your progress on this??? I really wanted to do this project when I got this book, but I was too timid and uncertain of the instructions. Your posts definitely have given me a clear idea and I REALLY appreciate it!

Joyce: I tried to take some shots in the bathroom mirror, but none were good enough. I still have a lot of work to do on the purse, so I figure I'll wait until it's done and do a little photo shoot with my husband. It'll be like the big finale. :)

Hi. I am making this purse and now my purse looks like the last photo on this page. A friend in the US has this book and she explained the pattern to me on the phone. She has also sent me the book but I haven't gotten it yet and I am eager to finish this.
But from this point I am a little confused. How do I join it from here?? How do I join the two sides? Can you explain?

Basirat ... It's too complicated to explain. There is only one triangle of flowers and they become both sides of the bag. It's too bad that your book is stuck in Turkey!
