Flower Purse - Update 5

OK, even though this post is late (meaning, not on Saturday) the pictures were actually taken on Saturday.  So, look  at the photo ... yes, you see that right ... I'm all done with the flowers and connectors!  Yay!!!!

I stuck my foot in the photo for scale.  It's about 25" by 30".  The blanket, not my foot.  It's BIG.  And heavy.  There's a lot of yarn in this so far.

I've even started weaving in the ends!  I know ... I've railed against weaving in ends on here a ton, and I'm totally against it.  But the beauty of making a handbag that will be lined is that I can weave them in and they can look crapass on the inside because no one will ever see it.  When you weave in ends on a blanket or somesuch, you have to do a good job because you could potentially see either side of the blanket.  The photo above is the front of a flower center and the photo below is the back of it with the weaved-in ends.

I wish I had the willpower to weave in all the ends before I move to the next step (the handles!!!), but (ahem ... ) something tells me I won't be able to wait.

Wow it looks amazing! I can understand why you don't want to weave in all those ends! Too much time!

wow, that's just big! oh, i can't wait to see the lining fabric you're going to use for this one. you always have interesting choices especially with the fabric. i actually learned to appreciated paisley prints when i saw it in one of your bags. :D and i agree with weaving in ends. i'm still thinking if i'm going to make one huge blanket or make squares first for my baby's blanket, i just hate weaving ends!

Wow it is beautiful!! And I LOVE big purses!! (helps me carry around my crochet projects!!) :D Weaving in the ends is the total worst part of crocheting. Maybe in the future we'll have some magical end-weaving tools...

hi. wow. i haven't checked in in a while. the blog looks great. photos look great. tutorials amazing, as always, with an impressive amount of photos and explanation. thank you! i'm really taken by the flower crochet-ing. it looks amazing and i know the work that goes into that kind of stuff. very inspired also by the cactus photos. really wanting to find the original post on that so i can see how it all started. they look so weensy, meaning, did you grow those suckers from seed or something??? (i have no idea how to grow cactus, obviously). anyway. i'm entralled. have a lovely weekend. *

Oh this is wonderful, the last time that I checked in was the weekend that you found the book with the purse pattern. This is lovely. This year has been my knitting and beading year...but you are killing me on my resolution not to jump into relearning crocheting until next year. I want to make this so bad now.
