Cactus Update - November

I fear these cactus updates are getting boring, even if they are cute.  They are still so tiny.  I might suspend the updates until the Spring.  Last spring they all almost doubled in size ... maybe they will this Spring, too.  What do you think?

One more died since last update.  And this one is on it's way out, too.  You can tell because they get ghostly green.  One day they are there and the next day they have completely deflated and there's just a puff of spikes laying on the dirt.  The one that already died was actually quite tall.

More on my Flickr.  The first four images of the set are the new ones.

It's kinda cool, though...the little green ones look like little alien beings!

My suggestion is to take a couple of the largest ones and move them into bigger individual pots...I think they'd grow faster if they had more room.....

It could just be one of those little peat pots, but they'd have more space for their roots to grow.

I'm not sure that you are caring for them in the proper way. I always had great success with cacti - I would keep forgetting to water them, let them get to death's door, then give them a wee sip. They grew much quicker than my friend's. I think they liked the challenge of trying to survive in 'desert-style' conditions...

That is tragic. I feel for the little ex-cacti. Needle dropping and all. It looks like a little melted gummy bear. Awwwww.

I have managed to kill almost all my little transplanted hen and chick plants (a different plant than yours, but similar needs.) They were going to be how I brought the fire-escape garden inside this year over he winter.
I normally have a green thumb but I did not do well with these. The exceptions being the couple that I placed in a window in my kitchen. Every month or so I slap my head and run in there as I remember they exist. I water them and then forget about them for a long while again. They always look a little sad a pathetic on watering day, but they are the only ones that seem to be thriving so maybe lil'd is right. Maybe the low water plants have to fight to live in order to be happy. All the ones I babied died on me.

Still cute as a button! How odd that they turn white before they kick the bucket!
