My Brand New Hat

It's been brutally cold here this last week and the ear muffs aren't enough anymore.  Yesterday I made this hat to match my scarf.

It's made of baby alpaca that is brushed to look like mohair.  I crocheted in the granite stitch.  It's almost impossible to frog, so I crossed my fingers as I made it.  It's not tight at all, but I'm cool with that.  I won't get that red hat-line on my forehead.  It's super warm!

All day Andrew has been singing, "Getting to know you, getting to know all about you ... " and asking me where I'm visiting from.  If I go missing, send Coop to find me in the Black Lodge.

That's an awesome beanie. Things like that go for like $30 at my job. I hate them.

I like yours though.

Do you ever do pom poms on your hats? I would like to make a winter hat for myself with a giant pom pom on top.

I love alpaca yarn- I have only knitted a couple of scarves but one of them I made for my sister out of alpaca-sooooo soft!

A hat! I never did finish that hat I was working on. I'm thinking about frogging it. I rarely wear hats. But of course it doesn't really get that cold out here.

What do you do about hat hair? I never know what to do when I do wear a hat. Do I keep it on when I go indoors and I'm not at home. Because the hat hair, oh my god, MY hat hair, is a horror to behold.

I love the hat, and the yarn. I have some purple of the same type that I am lusting over, but don't have a project for yet. Hey, I wanted to let you know, I sewed a purse this summer that I finally took pictures of. I used your seamless tutorial, and basically spent hours staring at pictures on your blog to copy the design, although I know it is nowhere near as good as yours. Since it is a copycat though, I thought it only right to let you know, and to tell you that this is in homage to your greatness, a learning project for me, and in no way meant to infringe upon you or your work. Hopefully that's okay. The pictures are on my Ravelry at FingerRhythms, or my flickr at phil3737. Thanks again for the wonderful inspiration!!

I love the new hat but I don't think you should frequent the Black Lodge...Couldn't you just hand at One-Eyed Jack's?

Super cute!! Looks like you won't be needing that hat today or tomorrow. What's with this crazy Philly weather??

Impossible to frog - that sure is incentive. And I adore brushed alpaca, those little baby alpacas, so cute. So fluffy.
