A Little Something

Either I've never had the flu before or the flu has become some crazy-mega-flu, because I've never had my ass kicked like that before.  I'm still not 100%, but I'm no longer worried that I'm permanently brain damaged from my fever.  Next year I'll be getting a flu shot for sure!

I had a mini craft session yesterday when I changed the sheets.  I needed to mark our new pillows so I know which one goes where.  I like to always use the same pillow for my head and the same one for my knees.  I guess I kind of have a relationship with my pillows.  I'd hate to accidentally sleep on Andrew's pillow.  Because ... well, I'm not sure why.  Superstition?  Voodoo?  Magic?

Anyway, last time we bought pillows, I cut the tags off so what was left was in different shapes that told me who's pillow they were.  This time I decided to embroider little designs.

A pink heart for Andrew.  A green moon for my head.  A yellow cloud for my knees,  which also looks like a piece of buttered popcorn.  Not the most awesome job, but it makes me happy all the same.

Those are adorable :) So cute in their simplicity (and I am the same when it comes to pillows. When I change our sheets, I place the BFs pillows on -his- side of the bed so that I don't get messed up when I go to make the bed again and I've memorised which pillows go where for both of us)

Man, that sounds really OCD ;)

(I think the orange cloud looks like yummy butterscotch pudding, but that's me and my constant jonesing for US puddings ;) )

So glad you are feeling better. If you have enough strength to change the sheets, then you've kicked it for sure.

Love the pillowcases, what a great idea!

It's so true -- the wrong pillow -- even the wrong pillowcase -- and it's tough to sleep. It just Isn't Right. :)

Take it easy during your recovery. It is unfortunately way too easy to overdo and knock yourself back.

I'm particular about my pillows as well. Glad I'm not the only one. We have decidedly mix-and-match bedding, so it's easy enough to color code my pillows - I'm married to a man that doesn't care and thinks I make quite the fuss.

Great embroidery, they're so sweet.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I would guess you've never had flu before, I get really annoyed when people say they have flu when it's a bad cold. My BF and I both had flu several years ago. We were bedridden for a week and a half. Thankfully some friends with a spare key got worried when they hadn't heard from us for a day. They came round daily to stock up our bedside with drinks and tablets, feed the cats etc.
At one point I felt so bad I was was going to call an ambulance, except I didn't have the energy to get to the phone.

Flu is evil! I never miss a flu jab now. Again, so pleased you're better.

I totally understand what you mean about not wanting to use the other person's pillow. or using different ones for different reasons. I can't explain why either!

Glad you are feeling better. I like your idea of marking the pillow cases. I am like that too. I do not sleep well if I end up with my dh's pillow. Weird hun??

I like the little moon. :)

Your embroidering pillow idea gave me such a smile today. Because that's just like me. I need my pillows to be separate from Alan's. And I was going to embroider them too but I never got around to it! :)

Definitely voodoo. If you use the wrong pillow, then the ZOMBIES will come. And then you're totally screwed. Because, you know, ZOMBIES.

Yah, I thought the exact same thing when I had the flu last year. Apparently, I'd never had it before 'cause I thought I was dying.

So, you didn't have the crazy-mega flu. That's just what the actual 'influenza' virus does to you.

And I'm particular about my head and knee pillows too. :)

The knee pillow is crucial! My Misty Kitty now nestles on it and just resettles her self when I do the rigamorol of turning over! Great idea!

Everyone's head leaves a unique smell on their pillow. I can't sleep if I'm smelling someone else's smell. I can't smell my own smell so I usually can tell whose pillow is whose.

I like your idea A LOT.

I am so sorry to hear you got knocked down by such a nasty flu!

Well that is clever! I love little tiny bits like that. My nieces MIL puts little bits like that into the cloths she makes for her grandkids. She calls them secret love. The petty coat she made for my great niece had a little turtle hidden in the ruffles just for her to know about. It is great! I love little secrets.
