Almost Enough Floss

Yesterday I stumbled across a clearance sale of DMC embroidery floss ... 10 cents each!  Luckily I had my checklist with me.  I bought every color that I didn't already have that was still in stock.  There are only 35 more colors to get before I reach my goal of owning every color of floss.

There are 86 skeins of floss in the photo above ($8.60 in floss!  So cheap!).  I really wanted to do a Moonstitches on them, but I have neither the time nor gumption today for such an undertaking.  Plus, it looks like I'd been skipping a lot of the greens, so it wouldn't make for a pretty rainbow anyway. :)

Hi Alice: You have a nice and useful blog, thanks for the patterns of “crochet beaded bracelet”. I tried to do it, you are so generous.
Visist my blog of crochet.
Greetings from Peru

I will not visit your blog again until this photo is buried by a couple of new posts, Alice. I feel like I must get my hands on all this unsorted floss to see what is hidden. Behind, beneath... I am really getting nervous here. What a lucky girl you are to come across this sale. And how decent of you to actually choose considering the price.
What a weird feeling that must have been to pay for this, so little money for this much floss...
Have fun with it!

I am jealous of your floss. I just purchased a new embroidery book, stitch bible, and beaded embroidery book, and am now embellishing anything and everything I can get my hands on. Ah, when craft obsession hits!
I had a question though...where did you get your hands on your little floss list. I couldn't find one at either of my local stores...

If you follow the link to the checklist, you'll see it's on DMC's website. They were "generous" enough to whip up a shopping list for us. ;)

Okay your post has made me feel like I need all the colors too. I am not going to click on the floss list because that will make the feeling even larger! Great sale though, that's awesome.

$.10 each! Wow what a bargain.

I actually own every single floss color in the DMC collection but that's only because years ago one of the cross stitch catalogs had a special offer for the whole collection. The drawback was that you had to catalog and wind them yourself. About half way through I got confused and gave up. So now it's a big jumbled uncataloged mess. I also bought a second pack but I'm still too afraid too tackle it.

Oh how lovely - they look like sweets! 10c each is amazing. I have a faint ambition to own all the colours too but at UK prices it will take me a while ...

I spent an entire evening spinning my floss onto the little cardboard things last week. Is it sad that I actually have fun doing that? Seeing them all color coordinated in the case and just begging me to craft something with them? I think I need to go buy more floss now.

Hi Alice. Hey, if you want to tell me which DMC colors you still need, I'll check my stash. I have a ton of DMC floss -- my mom and sister used to own a cross stitch shop and when they decided to close, I kept a humongous box of DMC thread. I may not have the colors you need, but I'd be happy to check. I've been wanting to do some embroidery with my daughter, now I'm feeling inspired;o)

Of all the things I've seen people collect, I think your collection is the best. This has a lot to do with the fact that your collection are a foundation for so many creative and beautiful things to come out of it :-)
