Notions and Thoughts

I stopped at Joann's on the way home today and they have a special: 50% off the Notions Wall!  So, of course I bought twice as much as I would have, but it's all useful.  I use the Rigilene and the snaps in my handbags.  I'm very excited about trying the white ink marker.  I usually use a Nonce pencil, which I have to keep licking so it'll mark on the felt.  Mmmmm, yum, Nonce pencil. And ... I couldn't pass up the shiny silver eyelets.

Floss was 5 for a dollar, limit 30.  I'm slowly achieving my goal of owning all the floss colors.  I eyeballed my list and it looks like I have just over half now.

Ok, here come the thoughts ... the rest of this entry is about my fancy new schedule.  You can stop reading now if you want to.  I'll spare you the minute details and just give you the gist:

- No cleaning or laundry (or laundry putting away) was done on the scheduled day, but it was all done, eventually.

- Tuesday I couldn't resist working on the Octopus pattern (which is R&D), but this worked out for the best because I didn't have time for R&D on Sunday, when it's scheduled.

- The schedule totally helped me focus on Wednesday night, and, even though I really didn't want to, I did website stuff.  I'm so glad I did, because I got a lot done.

Basically, I reinforced to myself that I totally need this schedule.  Left to my own devices, I would crochet all the time and eventually bury myself under a pile of unlined handbags and unwashed (or washed) laundry.  I also learned that I need to break out all the steps for the craft projects that are next in line to help keep me on track. For example, instead of just putting "Small Handbag" on my list, I need "Small Handbag: crochet / embellish / label / lining / photos" so I can cross off each step as I do it.

I'm definitely going to keep using the fancy schedule.  And this week I'm not going wait until Sunday to do *all* the laundry.

Your crafting itinerary got me on a kick to get my cleaning in hand. I'm happy to say this past weekend I was a cleaning fool. FOOL!!

I am trying to just schedule my days a little better.
I am going to have to add gardening to my daily list
and right now I am not even fitting in everything I want to do..

(Of course I have been enjoying a period of flexibitity and self indulgence. But planting season waits for no Mann.)

You are my scheduling role model.

I should do a schedule, but I wonder if I would stick to it. I'm getting so stir crazy in my house. I need to find some outside entertainment.

I'm a schedule resister. If it feels like a "have to" or a "should" I dig in my heels terribly. So, I just mosey along and do things in a half hazard pattern and it gets done. Now if I were trying to really produce, it might be a different story.
Thanks for your comment on Little Frida. You hit it on the head when you said some kids are dark. Annie loves death, human struggle etc. Sometimes I get uneasy, but mostly I'm delighted at her acceptance and interest in all facets of life.

I love writing the portions of a project down so I can check them off. It's good to remember that incremental progress is necessary to get to the finish line.

Scheduling is good. I need to do more of that.

I'm scared of my laundry. It's been out of hand for weeks now. Festering. I barely keep up. There are towels that have been out of commission in a hamper for a couple of months. Wow would it be great to get a handle on that albatross around my neck!

You are an inspiration.

I think I need to follow your lead and make a crafty itinerary. I am so behind on some things, and WAY too far ahead on others. *sigh* the perils of trying to craft from memory =D

It feels good when things don't feel out of control. I envy your proximity to a craft store. Good scores!

I have a whole new priority list for myself at this point- the first thing being that I need to be using ACRYLIC felt after all. My friend Jeni reminded me last night that wool fuzzes up and shrinks and buckles when washed and run through the drier. I happened to do my laundry tonight and threw in my samples. Yup. Not so great. So, thanks again for the shopping tips.

I try to spend my workdays living by the lists in my appointment book. Some days are more successful than other.

I always watch for the 50% off notions sale. They're fantastic. I just took a flying leap and finished my floss collection...my bedroom looks like the needlework aisle exploded all over it. Yikes!

I think I NEED a fancy schedule. I'm totally lost right now. I had all of the floss colors a couple of years ago (no linen yet for me, either) but they keep adding more!
