Floss Accomplished

With some help from Kari (whose mom and sister and used to own a cross stitch shop) and one last trip to the craft store, I have now become the proud owner of ALL of the colors of DMC floss.

A calm has settled over the craft table*. I now know that I can find the perfect color of floss for any craft project ... and if I can't, then it just doesn't exist.  Crafting with confidence, that's my motto.

* Sadly, I'm only half joking. :)

Oh, the sheer joy! I once was that happy and content, too... but alas. They went and made MORE! :0)

All the colors, that's awesome.

I'm um, super envious and I'm not even half-joking either.

wow, you lucky, lucky thing! I can totally relate to "needing" to have all the colors, just to make sure after all... it is not like paint where you can mix up the right blend :-)

I think this makes you the President of Craft, or something similar.

When I was a kid I shopped for floss at a local mom n' pop hardware store and theor display looked JUST like that! They used to order colors for me when I couldn't find them.
Can you imagine? Specially ordering 15cents worth of dotton for an 8 year old!
Congrats on a "full set" ;)

That is amazingly luxurious.

Wow! I can only dream of getting all of the DMC floss.

I love how you have them all organized. Did you use something specific or just little plastic bins?

Congratulations! What's next to collect? :-) (you now, it will never end this feeling, I have the same itch with tiny glass beeds - must have all the colors)
Love your site! You make lovely things.

Okay, that is a pretty nerdily craftily cool accomplishment. If only I were even organized enough to utilize the floss I have!

*sigh* What a beautiful picture!

When I was younger I had TONS of that stuff - I'm sure I tried to get every color but doubt I did so. After I went to college my Mom overed on my collection. LOL

I'm just getting back into cross-stitch as well as branching out into other forms of embroidery, and I cannot find my floss that's been stored safely (I made sure it was not stored in a shed or in deep closet corners) anywhere!!!! a year ago, I had pulled the three or four floss boxes full of wound floss bobbins full of them out for something, and I guess they didn't get put back. I remember considering sending them to the thrift store, but NAH, I knew I'd get back to it!!!!

So, nothing for it but to start collecting all over again, since I can't find those. That's ok (sob!!) since I'm going to use DMC's Stitchbow Storage system (using 40% off coupons at various craft stores . . . .)

Still . . . all those pretty colors, I had 4/5 of the colors they had out at the time, as of around 1995 or so . . .!!!
