Wristlets

Here is a bird wristlet in blue.  I usually use bright colors on the birds, because natural colors would look a little blah on the ecru yarn.  It was nice to make a little sparrow for Dawn.

And the ubiquitous inside shot.

This wristlet is for Elizabeth of Crafts of Destiny to give to a friend of hers who loves to play dominoes.  Her birthday was in July, so I decided to put seven spots on it.

Here is a close up of the top.  For both of these wristlets, I squared off the corners when I sewed in the lining. I really like how it looks ... although I like the loose, foldy look, too. Do you have a preference?

Oooo shmancy new bags! I like!

I think I like the the squared corners, but I tend to naturally go towards the geometric.

Question: do you machine sew or hand sew your linings?

I'm toying with machine sewing crocheted pieces, a la the coasters tutorial up in the purl bee!

I like the squared off corners. It looks like it would be a bit easier to open up the wristlet and get to the contents.

The domino bag is adorable.

Yet another crisp-cornered vote. The domino bag leaves me contemplating what sorts of retangular objects could be translated into wristlet-form. It's a fun game.

Lovely work, per usual!

Has anyone noticed Futuregirl reflected in the Dominoes buttons? They each have their own perspective of her taking the picture.

Love your wristlets...they would be a great gift for expectant mom's. They would tuck easily into a diaper bag. Great designs.

I admire how neat your stitches are... I'm a beginner trying to make a square and a bit frustrated with the ends: I do 2 extra stitches at every time I finish a row (to keep the line) but when I look at the block as a whole it seems to warp a little, no matter how straight the edge is. Is this normal?

Kana ... Hmm, I'm not sure what you're doing to make it warp. Are you crocheting back and forth or in a square around all four edges?

Deepali ... Thank you for the sweet comment. I am using single crochet. It's a back-and-forth seamless technique. I have a tutorial for seamless single crochet on my tutorial page.

Carmen ... Hi! Welcome to my blog. :) I don't have a pattern for the wristlets yet, but you can make the Starling Handbag. It's simple. You can get the pdf instructions on the Free Downloads page.
