Buttony Goodness From Laurie

Laurie from Old School Acres posted about some books she found while thrifting.  I instantly recognized three of them from the Better Homes and Gardens Crafting series.  I had one of them, and it was missing from her set.  I offered to trade it for a handful of buttons because, sadly, I had no button stash.

I was treated to more-than-a-handful of wonderful buttons.   She sent me a great mix of colors and styles.  Some of my favorites are the metal knights, the metal eagles with anchors, tons of white shell buttons , and one beautiful abalone button.

The vial of vintage sequins is about half full of flat copper sequins.  I imagine they will look really cool on one of my embroidered purses.  All of the sequins I have are creased, so the flat ones are a great addition to my sequin stash. The jeweled kitty pin is so incredibly cute, too!  So sparkly.

Laurie and her family live in a former country school house they inherited from her husband's great-grandmother.  Her blog is full of wonderful stories about her family's history and pictures of the incredible things she finds packed away in their home.

On the left of the photo you can see the edges of the stack of vintage wrapping paper she sent me - from Gram's stash. :)  Too cool.

Got more of those metal kind of buttons if you want some. Really, if you are ever in Califonia you should stop by and take half of my stash. I really have too much.

It was a pleasure swapping with you. It's so much fun to share things with people who appreciate them. Thank you for a great swap!

What is it about buttons? Little treasures that are also useful, I think! I recently gave my friend a pressie of assorted buttons too... she says she just plays with them and puts them in order, so cute :) I felt for her because she didn't have a button collection of her own.
Nice blog too, by the way :)

Oh how wonderful! When I was little my mother had a stash of buttons and I always found them so fascinating. She stopped sewing when I got older and unfortunately those buttons are long gone. Guess I'll have to start my own stash. :)

I love this picture. A few years ago we had an attic fire and one of the things I lost was my old button collection started by my mom and continued by me. I had some beatiful antique ones. Oh well, you let go of those things. But I've finally started a new collection. I love buttons for their utility and beauty mixed together.
