Tomorrow is the third Wednesday and that means Crafting In Public! The forecast calls for a bone chilling high of 62 degrees which means by the time we gather at 5:30 PM, it'll be even bone chilling-er ... and foggy ... and windy ... and that just makes it hard to craft outside.
Tonight I'll be at the
American Craft Council show at Fort Mason. Etsy Labs and
MOCFA have a booth where you can complete a small sewing projects or you can learn to knit from one of the fabulous (if I do say so myself) instructors.
The show is usually $12, but after 5 PM today, it's only $5 and includes our hands-on crafting area in addition to the rest of the show. It goes until 8 PM.

It was a foggy day when I got there around noon. I sure do love a view of the Golden Gate Bridge when it's half-covered in fog. So magical.

On Wednesday we had our regular 3rd Wednesday of the month get together at Yerba Buena Park. We could only take about 30 minutes in the freezing cold wind before we all trekked over to Grove. What a great coffee shop!
Craft in Public! Wednesday, July 21st at 5:30 until about 8:30 or so in Yerba Buena Gardens nearish the waterfall. Everyone welcome!
If you can make it, join me and several hundred of my closest friends at
Craft Bar this Thursday. The featured project is cute little needle felted animals. I'll be teaching crochet again. Yay!
We had our first crafting in public get together on Wednesday at Yerba Buena park. It was beautiful and there was a nice group of us. And I didn't take one effing photo! I remembered my camera (and extra batteries!) and everything, but I didn't remember to take it out. Gah!
Get ready to break out your picnic blanket, and maybe a scarf*, for Crafting Wednesdays at
Yerba Buena Gardens:
Wednesday, June 16th at 5:30 PMIf you have a craft/art project you can do away from home, bring it! So far the confirmed attendees are me, Laura of
DorkByte, and Rita of
Mochi Studios. We're all happy to help you with your knitting and/or crocheting, so don't be shy!
Are you going to join us?!
* I was walking around tonight in a winter coat, scarf, and gloves! Seriously, it's cold here! And I'm not some wimpy California girl. Brrrrrr!

Craft Bar last Thursday was amazing! The weather was nice enough that there were tables and chairs set up outside for us. There were two great hand-sewing projects plus the knitting and crochet stitch and bitch area.

Last Sunday I was sitting on a bench in Yerba Buena Gardens knitting, and two older Chinese women slowly walked by me smiling and nodding at my knitting. I smiled back. The younger woman, who I'm guessing is in her 60s, stopped. She started talking to me in Chinese. I held out my knitting to her so she could see the fabric. She touched it and ooo'd and ahhh'd.
Craft Bar was even more awesome than I thought it would be! And I thought it would be pretty awesome. :) As soon as people started showing up, I had three women come right over and say they wanted to learn how to crochet.
I made plans with a friend to go to Craft Bar last Thursday. In between making plans to go and the big night, I got an email from a wonderful woman with the Museum because she saw my post about
Open Source Embroidery. She thanked me for my post invited me to Craft Bar. And I said, "Oh, yeah, I'll be there!"

Last Thursday I met up with Sonya of
Wax and Wool and Bethany of
Bitter Betty. We hung out at Sonya's studio space, where she let me paw through her AMAZING stash of yarn (I even got some to take with me!). After eating a yummy lunch at the cafe downstairs, we headed over to
SCRAP.
