The blanket is done! I've been promised photos of little Baby P on the blanket, once he arrives. I'll post those as soon as I get them. I will also be getting photos of the blanket in the nursery with all the linens, wall decals, etc in place. I can't wait to see it in it's new home.
One of you asked about what size I made the blanket. That's a great question! When I proposed Baby P's blanket to his parents I threw a lot of info at them. One thing I didn't ask was, "How big do you want the blanket to be?" I was pretty sure, not having been parents before, they wouldn't have a clue.
So I did a bunch of searches to see find out what the common baby blanket sizes are. Of course there are no rules, and everyone has a different idea about what size a baby blanket should be. But, even so, here's what I discovered (biggest to smallest):
- crib blanket 45"x60"
- crib quilt 36"x50"
- knit throw 32"x39"
- stoller blanket 22"x30"
I decided to shoot for the middle of all of that. I ended up making a 34" x 44" blanket. I'm hoping it's small enough to be usable for the baby and big enough that he can use it for several years.
What size baby blankets do you make as gifts?
