The Last Detail - Newest and Final Neckline

I am finally satisfied.  This is actually neckline 4 or 5.  Whatever its number, it's the last one.  I love it. :)  I wanted seed stitch, it just took me a couple of tries to figure out how I wanted to do the decreases in pattern.

These are some of my test swatches.  I wanted to see if it made a difference if I decreased on a purl or on a knit.  I prefer the look of decreasing two purls with a knit.

For reference, here's exactly what I did at each raglan corner.  The bottom of the chart is where the neckline of the sweater is and the top is the bind off.

Now I can get working on finishing the rest of the sweater.

Tannia Rosario-Frank ... I've only blocked one Starling (because I'd folded it and put it in a drawer for a while). I just got it wet, shaped it, and dried it: http://www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog/2012/1/perrins-starling-1.aspx Hope that helps!

So beautiful. I'm positively envious of your ability with the knitting needles! Everything you make is just lovely. :)

I'm a crocheter (with both yarn and thread), and I can't seem to get comfortable with using 2 needles to create, vs. 1 hook. :( I'm also extremely intimidated to try making clothing...

Any tips for someone who desperately wants to add knitting to her list of needlecrafts? (And clothing-making, for that matter?)

Thanks for such an enjoyable blog - you're pretty darn badass with your crafty self. :)

Tina ... I had a lot of trouble learning to knit. It's totally different than crochet. My only suggestion is practice practice practice. :) And let yourself be crap at it while you're learning. Pretty much the same thing you have to do when you learn anything.

I've gotta say, I'm super impressed. This is serious garment construction. I've never been able to stay interested in a project long enough to finish (or start :-/ ) a sweater.

I particularly love this neckline! It lends itself to showing off not only a gorgeous stitch pattern, but a lovely handmade necklace of some sort.

Hi (:
I've been messing around with knitting needles, and I know the right way is to hold the yarn with your right hand, and not your left, but some people do use their left hand, and I've found that my tension is consistent when I'm using my left... Does it matter or should I keep trying using my right hand? Thank you, and again your skills are amazing!

Jess ... Hey, wait a second! There is no "right way" to knit (or crochet or anything ...). There are all sorts of techniques for creating a knitted fabric. I hold my yarn in my left hand, it's called Continental (before WWII it was called German). I learned from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuRLFl36tDY. Just like you, I can't get consistent tension when I "throw" the yarn. I think it's because I'm a crocheter at heart. :)

Pretty please never change what feels right to you because other people tell you you're wrong. You know best!

I love your raglan stitches. This has been such a problem for me in the past I've just given up hope on the technique. But now looking at yours finished, it's inspired me to try again. Thanks for your beautiful pics too.
