Yarn prØn

Knit Picks just had a sale and I couldn't resist.  I did actually *need* some yarn for a project ... but the bulk of this yarn was to get one skein of the colors I don't already have.

On Knit Picks, you get free shipping on orders $50 or more, so buy the yarn I need and then I add single skeins of colors until I get free shipping.  It's the only way to actually see the colors since they don't sell color cards.

The box was heavy and over stuffed.  So exciting!
So much yarn!
Here are the Simply Cotton Sport colors I got.
These are Comfy Fingering, which is what I'm making Helena out of.  Somehow the skein of Parchment (beige) didn't make it into this photo.
A couple CotLin colors were on sale, Robot & Wallaby.  I'd like to combine them to make a MechaWallaby with laser eyes.
This is the yarn I ordered for the project.  Probably twice what I need, but I've been dying to buy this Swish washable wool in Squirrel Heather.  I made Andrew fingertube gloves and a scarf out of Swish and it gets SO SOFT when you machine wash it (I laid it to dry, but I think you can "dryer" it).
Oooooh, close up of the squirrelly goodness. (the only thing about this new computer that is slowing me down is adding all the words I use to the dictionary ... fingertube, squirrelly, haha!)
Squishy box of colorful yarn fun!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Knit Picks.... recently got my own shipment of yarny goodness from them!!!!! Brava Sport and Cotlin for me... I only buy machine wash and dry...
especially when making for others with kids... who has time to wait for fibers to air dry? Never even looked at the Swish...... should look right away as I ordered yarn from Loop this morning and also have some Darn Good Yarn that just arrived and are waiting to be address..... and with a HUGE yarn habit its just to dangerous to trust myself not to buy ..... BUT I will look into it now just to see if it is ash ad dry........ working on or should I saw WAS working on a Starling bag but kept running into a glitch of some sort so abandoned the pattern for a similar one I already had....Will try again using a sturdier yarn in the future and hope whatever my problem was resolves itself..... LOVE THAT BAG and wanted to make one for my MIL!!!! Enjoy the yarn shipment!!!

What do you think of the CotLin? I'm always scared to buy yarn without touching it first!

I totally freaked out when I opened up the email with this post. I would LOVE to open up a big box of yarn! I'm so happy for your bounty... ok, maybe a little jealous :)

Aren't you allergic to wool? But it doesn't bother you to knit with it?

Lauren ... Good question! Some wool yarns make me super itchy when I crochet/knit with them, but some of the superwash don't. Whatever they do to swish gets rid of the wool-bits that give me big red itchy hives. Luckily! :)

I've never ordered from KnitPicks. Am inspired to give them a try. Thanks for the excellent descriptions of the yarn. It's good to know that you can "dryer" some yarns. (Is that a verb, really?) :)

My website, The Purple Sweater may be something you'd like to visit. I have several at WordPress, but that's the blog I use for all my knitting and needlework thoughts and crises!

Just wanted to let you know that I am now minus a considerable amount of cash, thanks to the Knit Picks sale...which I was really trying to pretend wasn't happening. Your blog about the sale placed my "I've got to have (still) more yarn" wishes right into my priorities. So, I will have even more yarn in my stash. Of course, one can NEVER have enough yarn in their stash...so I am a happy knitter! Thanks for the nudge in a direction I already wanted to go...

Eeeeee that squirrelly heather is wonderful! Looks warm and cozy and makes me want to snack on some shortbread and spiced tea.

Oh Alice! I just received my big giant $50.00 box of yarn from Knit Picks too! Should have taken pictures before i tore into it!

The big sale was a perfect way for me to stock up on colors needed for new crochet projects since i need at least 8 - 9 different colors per item as well as yarn for a couple other knit/felt projects, gorgeous red roving and still - like you - adding skeins to qualify for free shipping!

Best birthday present ever from my very wise sweetie!

Now I just wish i could get my paws on YOUR box! Want to touch every skein!
