The Last Detail - My Nautical Sweater

I told you that I started a new sweater just to work on during my Los Angeles vacation, but I'd like to introduce you properly now.  Here is The Last Detail my top-down raglan made from the pattern Breakwater.

I am so in love with these two-row stripes.  I also love the seed stitch neckline, but I did 8 rows without any increases (like the pattern's woven neckline) which was a big mistake.

The seed stitch is floppy and will have to be redone.  No biggie, though.  I'll do it later.  For now, I'm zipping through these stripes!  I'm so happy to be using yarn from my stash, too.

The Patons Grace is really painful to knit with, though since it has zero stretch.  I also found that I couldn't use the Harmony wood tips for my interchangeable needles because the wood and the yarn are both super slick and my stitches were crazy-loose.  I had to use my Zephyr acrylic tips (I'll review them soon).

Here are a couple shot to give you an idea of what it's going to look like. Note to self: turn off your monitor when you take pix in the full-length mirror.

Hey Alice,

Have you heard of the contiguous method?

It's a way to make shoulder shaping seamlessly from the top down and considering how adventurous you are, I thought it would be something that you'd be interested in using in the future!

lauria ... Ahem, it's been over 5 months since I "saved" this comment for follow up later ... and now all I have to say is "Yes!" haha! I've got a bunch of those projects in my queue.

The pattern and color suit you perfectly! Love the seed stitch detail at the neck. I am sure it will be well worth going back for the fix.

I love seed stitch in everything.
I'd love to make something like this sweater, but I mainly use straight needles and can't find the way to get used to continental knitting, except when using dpn's.
