The Last Detail - Crazy-high Hip Increases

In the pattern for my The Last Detail sweater, there are decreases after the bust, then you work for an inch, and start increasing for the hips (I still think I'm reading that wrong, but every time I re-read the directions, it looks the same).  I don't know about you, but I have more than one inch between the bottom of my bust line and the start of my hips. But I went ahead and followed the pattern, thinking, "Maybe it'll all work out."  ;)

16 stripes (32 rows!) into the increases, I tried this on.  As expected, there's a crazy flare right under my bust line ... and I'm no where near my hips yet.

Maybe the effect is more subtle in a different yarn.  This Patons Grace is pretty stiff, so the side increases form a pronounced peak.

I had to rip out all the rows back to that green cable needle.  (sigh)

Sorry you had to rip it back - that sucks - but I appreciate the share.

Does the pattern have a corrections notice floating out there somewhere? Maybe it's a mistake that has escaped notice or failed to mention that the pattern is for Weebles.

CitricSugar ... Haha! Weebles! I think it's probably just my yarn sub issue. My yarn is much stiffer than what she used. But maybe it is the weebles thing ... ;)

It looks almost like you did the bust decreases too close together. I don't have the pattern, but could you maybe have mis read that part? It would drop the waist lower to where it shows in the photos of the pattern....

Kristina ... That's what I thought, too, but I've read the instructions a bazillion times and charted them out on graph paper. I think the yarn I'm using just drapes differently and highlights the increases. Live and learn. )
