In the pattern for my
The Last Detail sweater, there are decreases after the bust, then you work for an inch, and start increasing for the hips (I still think I'm reading that wrong, but every time I re-read the directions, it looks the same). I don't know about you, but I have more than one inch between the bottom of my bust line and the start of my hips. But I went ahead and followed the pattern, thinking, "Maybe it'll all work out." ;)
16 stripes (32 rows!) into the increases, I tried this on. As expected, there's a crazy flare right under my bust line ... and I'm no where near my hips yet.
Maybe the effect is more subtle in a different yarn. This Patons Grace is pretty stiff, so the side increases form a pronounced peak.
I had to rip out all the rows back to that green cable needle. (sigh)
