The publisher of
Crochet Boutique sent me a free copy of the book to review. SPOILER ALERT: at the bottom of this post, I link to a pdf of one of the projects from this book.
Crochet Boutique has 31 projects that skew young. The photography, as you will see, is fun and hip.
I swear I saw a girl on my walk to work wearing this exact scarf. Chunky yarns are very in right now.
Personally, I like this hat pattern. I think it could be super cute with a pin, like they have it, or even with fabric or yarn flowers holding up the flap.
There are alternate shots of most projects. I love how sweet and romantic this hat looks.
It appears that girls these days are very serious. There are some half-smiles in this book, but no teeth-smiles, which I think is hilarious. But, that probably means a moody teenager would feel a kinship with these models.
I also love this casual tank. The colors are fantastic, but I love that it easily dresses up a summer tank without adding too much bulk or warmth.
There's a clear instruction section at the back.
All of the projects are ranked beginner, easy, or intermediate. There are no advanced projects. Lots of chunky yarns and slouchy berets. Definitely things I see women wearing here in San Francisco every day.
This would be a great first crochet book for a young woman. Pair it with yarn and a hook for one of the projects and you have a perfect gift.
And here's the
Free Pattern - Cuddle Cowl. Enjoy!
