My long-time blog-friend Tanya of
More Than Blue surprised me with these awesome name tags right after I posted about my
Total Crochet Badassery. It's taken me forever-and-a-day to get photos taken. Thanks, Tanya! I love them!
I need some sort of work shirt, or lab coat, or something official to wear them on. Wouldn't it be hilarious to wear one in an actual business and see if anyone notices? OK, maybe not. I don't want to be asked what aisle the Q-Tips are on are all day long ...
Recently on Make and Meaning, Kim Werker posted about
developing a shtick to help her overcome the intimidation she felt in situations where there are a lot of people that she doesn't know. I never would have thought to do something to actually draw attention to myself - the HORROR!
But that's exactly what I'm going to do at
Craft Bar next Thursday. I'll be helping with crochet instruction (kick ass!) in the Stitch and Bitch part of the event, and I'm going to wear my "Crochet Badass" name tag.
I'm hoping it encourages people to ask me for help with their crochet if they need it, because I'll be clearly marked as an expert. I also hope it keeps me from getting too worried about people thinking I'm goofy. They are going to know *right away* that I'm goofy. Case closed!
Mark your calendars now, Bay Area Crafters: Thursday, April 1st from 6-8 PM at the
Museum of Craft and Folk Art. Your $5 entrance fee includes craft supplies, craft project instruction, a free beer, and lots of fun. When you get there, come say hi to me!
