Do I Love You? Yes. I Do.

I've been a terrible hostess lately.  I haven't answered comments like I should have.  If you've left a nice comment the last handful of months and I didn't say thank you (ugh! there are so many!) I want to say sorry ... but I personally don't think sorry cuts it.

No.  It sure doesn't .

Actions speak louder than words.  I'm going to try to be a much better hostess in the future.  You'll see. :)

I spent my weekend craft-time coding a "reply" feature that threads my responses in the flow of the comments AND emails them to you.  I can't wait to start using it!  Hey, you know what?  I'm going to spend all my craft time this week going backwards replying to as many comments as I can.  I may not make it all the way back to yours, but I'm going to try.

And, as just a little extra bit of earnestness, my Make & Meaning post for this week is all about how to treat your commenters, because Commenters Are King!

How can you comment on comments between crocheting and coding?!! Astonishing you feel like apologising really!! I don't think one of us really minds!

Amy Cox ... Like this! :) It makes it worse that you don't mind. You're important to me, and I should tell you. :)

Just read your great post on Make and Meaning, which prompted me to spend some time looking at your site. As a beginning crafter, this is a bit of a gold mine--there's a lot of good information here! Looking forward to visiting and learning more. Thanks!

Your post over on M&M is spectacular, Alice! And it's so cool to see how many people are responding. Your points helped me re-commit to responding. It does get tricky, when time is at a premium, but you're right - it's really the foundation of everything.

SisterDiane ... Yes, it does get tricky, like days-behind-on-answering tricky. ;) But, I'm answering all the same, and that's what counts. We can only do our best. :) Thank you for inviting me to contribute to Make & Meaning. It's so wonderful!

I myself don't really get many commenters, but I need to be better about commenting on the excellent blogs that I visit! I am a bad visitor sometimes. Oops.

Laura ... You totally don't have to comment anywhere! Lurkers are cool, too. :) But I appreciate you leaving a comment on my blog!

Michelle ... How can I not reply to you?! And! I have an email from you, too, don't I?! You're the best! I mean that with all my heart. <3

You know how to code too? You're like wonder woman crafter. I would love a tutorial on how to reply to comments and have them emailed to commenters. That would be awesome.

urban craft ... Well, I am a programmer for a living, so maybe it's not as dazzling as it might seem. :) I wrote my blog application, so I'm writing custom code that my blog uses to do my fancy comment responding. Not really anything that I can write a tutorial for. But, the free service Disqus will allow you to email your replies and save them threaded in your comments. Craftypod.com uses it, if you want to check it out in action.

Your Make and meaning post yesterday has inspired a new post NOT on the calendar! The whole process of commenting and responding to comments, while overwhelming for me at times, has resulted in my meeting some really fantastic people. Since I refuse to give up crafty time to keep in touch, I have decided to give up household chores!

futuregirl replied ...
Pam ... Oh, no! I've subverted the calendar! And you're subverting the chores! It's a revolution! ;)

well, shoot. Now I've got to spend some time learning how to do this. Or, more aptly, badgering my husband to learn how to do this. I've got things to craft.

Cindy ... Yes, get your husband right on that! ;) You'd be doing better than me. My husband is a web programmer, but he's got all his hobbies, too. :)
