2009 Challenge - Update

I still haven't spent one penny on craft supplies.  Believe me, I'm as shocked as you. :)  I gave myself $20 worth of wiggle room, but I'm pretty sure I won't use it.

It helps that I don't have easy access to craft stores, that the economy has me being frugal in all areas of my life, *and* I have some really awesome blog friends who send me stuff.

Case in point, Nancymoo sent me this awesome japanese craftbook!  She had an extra ... and thought of me.

These are my two favorite projects.  I'm a sucker for stripes and the L-shaped stripes are cute.  This textured crochet purse is also really cool.  Thanks, Nancy!

Then there's Jackie, the sweetest destasher in history.  Here's just a small sampling of the box of yarn, beads, buttons, trim, and just plain crafty FUN she sent my way.

Oh!  Let's not forget the fabric!  There was also a generous stack of fabric that included this cuter-than-cute owl print and the cool batik-y owl print below.  Thanks, Jackie!

So, while it's awesome that I'm sticking to my no-craft-spending challenge, I'm not quite a Saint ... but Nancy and Jackie are!

I was trying not to spend money on craft supplies but failed miserably, especially since I just got into sewing. How nice of Nancy and Jackie to think of you. :0)

Keep up the good non-spending work! Maybe this year will be my stash-building year (*ahem* buying yarn on sale for no reason, *ahem*) and then NEXT year I can try a stash-busting challenge of my own... However, with the rate of babies coming from my friends, I don't know how I'll ever do it...

Dang! Now that's how not to spend crafting money! That book, those skeins of yarn, the owl fabric...seriously.

My husband and I just bought a house :) so I've been preparing to have less of a disposable income for crafts.
I'm really hoping I'll get better at actually finishing projects.
But, also, I took back several full, unused skeins of yarn (labels still attached and everything)to a local yarn store in exchange for store credit. So, if I get an urge to buy yarn that I just can't fight I'll just use some of my credit, no need to dip into the coffers :)

Awesome job on the challenge so far. I wish I could do that! I keep spending money because I keep starting new projects!

Love the owl stuff as well :)

Well rest assured, I am petitioning the Vatican for your sainthood. You have to admit that Alice, Patron Saint of Crochet has a nice ring to it.

Sonya ... Oh, yes. A Saint with a twinkle in her eye. ;) I've got some naughty-making to do before I turn pious, though. Ha!
