New Flower Purse

I found my yarn and a little time to crochet over the weekend.  I'm thinking of making a multi-colored flower purse.  Here are all the colors I have.  I'd like to make it all from my stash, but that might be tough.  Luckily, cotton yarn is inexpensive.

The pattern calls for 5 different colors.  I wish I still had some light purple, but, oh well.  I think I've picked my combo, but I'd like to hear what you have to say before I decide.

As you can see, I've already started on the flower centers!  This one will definitely take less than 4 months. :)

I like the colors you have there though I'm having a hard time seeing what it'll look like in my head.

But of course I always have a hard time imagining something bigger.

I love it. I think if you're upping the color selection from 5, 7 is a great number. I'm all about odd numbers. Its going to be sunny and beautiful! :D

I'm only going to pick five of the colors so I can follow their layout scheme for the colors. I think I might take photos of the five and photoshop an approximation of the flat layout and see what I think of it.

You wanna know what I think? I love it! and...and...and I'm a little envious. If you could just send some of your talent this way I'll be good to go :o)

Angela ... The flower purse is all chains, single crochets, and double crochets. From the looks of the cornflower blue bag you're making, you've got all the skillz you need to make your own. :)

yummy! ... hmmm ... if it were me, I'd be leaning towards the brown, blue, light blue and green (though any combination would work great) ... there's no way you could carry that purse and be in a sour mood ... maybe we should make everyone carry fun bags/purses!!

i like the left part; starting from pale white (beige), pink, brown, yellow then light pink. i can only see two group here, either the above i'd mentioned or the 2nd group would be from green(s) and blue, beige n brown :)

I really like the bright colors, but personally I think the color you use for the centers of the flowers isn't bright enough.
The weird thing is, i bought my cotton yarn for this bag in all bright colors this weekend! Only need to finish some small things and then i'll start off too!

What type of cotton yarn is your favorite? I just started crochet and really only have a hobby lobby and Joanns around -- I've not really found any nice cotton yarn that doesn't split apart when I try to use it (maybe it's my lame crochet skills though).

So pretty! I'm already thinking what fabric for the lining. :) I can only see four colors in the picture (and do tell if it's entirely too creepy being this detailed!) but I'm thinking brown where the darkest blue is, white where it's white, pink where it's light brown, and yellow where it's light blue. Are you all moved in yet?

I can see several cool combinations from the swatches you've made, but I think the four at the top (brown, pink, white, blue) is my favorite. I like the color for the centers, too. :) I know your current purse is brown, but adding it to this one too isn't too much brown, yet allows you to still coordinate your new hat and shoes to this purse as well! Plus you'll have to get blue ones and pink ones... ;)
Just my $0.02!

I'm sorry if you have answered this question before - I tried looking through the comments on old posts, but couldn't find an answer. Where can I buy this pattern? Your purse is beautiful and I an just dying to make one of my own!

Oh, Alice, I couldn't stand it anymore. I have been lusting after that Japanese crochet book since your first post about it and I gave in and bought it. I ordered it (and a different one) from Amazon.jp. Good luck with the new purse - I know it will be gorgeous!! :D

I would say.. the top pink, the two blues, the yellow, and the green. :)

Brown, blues, green (or yellow), and white would be cute, too!

It's interesting to see how many different combinations different people like. I think I like the combination Sam also picked in a comment here: the top pink, the two blues, the yellow, and the green. I'm looking forward to seeing what combination you'll choose :-)

Thank you for the link to your blog post. I loved this purse so much, I just had my first online international purchasing experience with Amazon Japan. I must admit to having some sticker shock over the $38+ in shipping, but I'll get over it. I'm just so excited that this Japanese Crochet purse book will be on it's way to me - and very soon. Having visions of pretty little flowers all around, I can hardly wait to start this purse!
