Giveaway - Wacky Baby Knits

I have neither a baby nor knitting skillz (yet!), so instead of getting a review copy of Wacky Baby Knits, I'm doing a giveaway of the book.  Yay!

How maniacally cute is that frog suit?!?  And that pirate? Adorable. Although I think it's missing a knit hook-hand.  For sure.

The book write-up says there's a robot suit.  Could be cool ...

But the question I'm asking myself is, what about an octopus suit?  Because that would be THE COOLEST EVER.

To enter, leave a comment telling me what you think the funniest/coolest/dumbest knit costume would be for a toddler. Winners must be in the US or Canada. I will close the comments around Midnight  EST on Friday, July 10th. The winners will be drawn and posted here Saturday, July 11th.

Despite the popularity of Anne Geddes photographs of babies as plants and flowers, I have always thought they were kind of creepy, though in a pretty sort of way. Anyway, my suggestions are knitted replicas of the "Hydrangiss Babyiss", "Fiona Butterfly", or "Sweet Peas" pictures. (Visit http://www.annegeddes.com/modules/anne/galleries/index.aspx and look at the slideshow for "Down in the Garden".)

I'm outside US so I can't join the giveaway, but I personally think that it would cool to see a toddler in a Hobbit costume, though I haven't seen a knitted version of those shirts. But as I've said, it would be cool that they don't have to pretend to be halflings because of their height and how cute it would look for them with hairy face and feet. LOL!

I knit a squid hat for my friends' baby, and I think that an octopus or squid outfit would be adorable! Perhaps a My Little Cthulu outfit...

My friends have been talking about dressing their toddler daughter as Boo in the monster suit from Monsters Inc (for hallowe'en). I think that would be quite possibly the cutest thing ever.

Hmm. I'd have to vote for an amoeba suit. I think it would be cutest on a not-quite-toddeling toddler though. Particularly with some pseudopodia! It'd play off the idea of baby-as-blob. Except, cute blob!

It would be strange to knit a 3-piece power suit for a baby. Strange yet fascinating. It would definitely make me chuckle to see that.

I like baby costumes that take advantage of a baby's age, shape, or size. Old man, pumpkin, head of headless horseman (with parent as body).

My mother once knitted me a bikini. I was horrified to be the only kid in the neighborhood in a hand made bikini. Decades later I saw that Chanel had done the same thing and was charging $1,200 for it. Now I think that knitted bikini's are cool, of course. How about a knitted Speedo? Knitted bloomers? Personally, if I could knit, I would knit a hat with fake braids. Long, think, black ones like I envy every day.

I'd LOVE to see my new niece in a seahorse costume! Perhaps as much for her mom, because she's a squirmy little worm, and it'd be hilarious to see her wiggle and squirm, duck and bob about. Hahaha!

They did my favorite for a baby- FROGS- though I will say the suit looks a little gatorish to me. ;-)

When my boys were little, they got to dress up as frogs and I loved that costume, but my favorite of all was the only one I made myself- I crochetted a "straw" hat, added yarn hair and yarn to an old shirt and under patches sewn to too short jeans. He made a wonderful scarecrow.

Dumb = knitted snake or slug costume. Just a long tube that's closed at one end. The idea of it cracks me up. However, novice knitters would enjoy its simplicity, and knitters without kids could use it as a scarf or very large sock.

Can you picture a toddler bumbling around in a knitted Transformers outfit? Complete with the helmet and everything?

Oh, I wouldn't know whether to run or to hug them XD

I think a R2-D2 baby costume would be super geeky and warm, yet super awesome for the true Star Wars fan.

A knitted Marie Antoinette outfit - frilly dress complete with knitted wig of very fancy hair. And of course a drawn on mole.

I was thinking... in honor of my husband... a baby Chuthulu outfit would be the best, but Michelle beat me to that thought. For myself, I'd love to see a little turtle. I think it would be super cute especially when he's off crawling around with the shell in the air.

I would love to knit that Elvis hat and get some tiny sunglasses for my grandson's Halloween constume...that's the cutest baby costume I've seen yet...although my grandson already has a Darth Vadar costume that his parents bought before they even knew it was a boy!

I think that it would be really funny to dress my baby up as a blueberry, don't know why. Leaf hat, big, bubbly purple suit... I wish I were a more talented knitter!

I'd go for a knitted turtle costume for a kid in the crawling stage, or perhaps a ladybug.

A horse is what my toddler/preschooler wants to be, so I think a knitted one would be awesome. Or maybe a "dronkey" from Shrek. I think that a bloody appendage would be pretty gross... (Although think that the head for a headless horseman would be neat.)

I think the dumbest knit outfit maybe a sperm, if you had twins you could make sperm and egg suits. What a wonderful book! Can't wait to see the rest of it. :)

I think an alien costume would be the funniest costume for a baby! Although, it could fall into the 'dumbest' category, also!

This is tough! I think any cute animal would make a great baby costume. I think alligator would be appropriate at teething age. I think a crayon would be adorable too!

So many great ideas here already! I love the 3-piece power suit idea. How about the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, a la Sir John Tenniel's illustrations?

A great big hat, and a loud bow tie...

A spider -- lots of legs, maybe some body sections. Then put a lacy shawl on mom or dad and the baby in a carrier -- a costume for both. (Okay, I saw something like this a long time ago on Martha Stewart, but it wasn't knitted. I think it had to do with stuffed socks and lots of string.)
