Here's the aftermath of me taking a million and one photos and several videos for a foundation single crochet (fsc) tutorial supplement. It's to demonstrate how to make a fsc bridge in the middle of a crocheted piece. It's how I do my handbag handles.
This tutorial is the last big item that needs to happen before I post the first beta version of the pattern. Starting and reconnecting a series of fsc stitches is a tricky bit of crochet that desperately begs an explanation.
I've got 35 photos to edit and all the text to write ... although the text kinda writes itself. It doesn't take articulate genius to come up with "yarn over" or "pull through two loops." ;) The last couple of time I posted a tutorial, I've had someone either email or comment letting me know that I they thought I'd gone overboard with the number of photos. It's such a crack up to be reprimanded for over-explaining.
Let's just say this, I don't think it's possible to go overboard with the number of photos when posting a tutorial. Sure, there are more photos than an advanced crocheter needs, but not everyone is an advanced crocheter. I try to make sure that you just have to have a basic grasp of chains, single crochet, etc so that even newbie crocheters can follow my tutorials.
I also recorded a video demonstration of the fsc bridge. I had to record it a couple of times because I was finding it impossible to say foundation single crochet without mucking up the words. It's so weird to watch the videos after I make them. It's like listening to the fake radio shows I recorded on cassette when I was a youngster ... my voice sounds weird to me, I use phrases that I swear I don't use in real life, and it's just generally embarrassing. The only difference is when I was 10 years old I had the sense to keep the tapes to myself and now I post my goofiness on You Tube. Ha!
I'm hoping to get the tutorial up soon. This weekend is going to be SUPER busy, though, so it probably won't happen in the next couple of days, but I'm gonna try.
