Comment Change

I've always tried to individually reply to my comments.  For years I diligently replied to *everyone* that left a comment.  That's how much I appreciate comments.  100%.

In the last couple of years, if I got more than 50 or so comments on a post, I mostly just let them all go unanswered unless someone asked a question.  Those people would get emails.  I always feel so bad about leaving all those comments hanging in the wind.

I know.  Boo hoo for me.  What a big problem, having too many comments.  Well, keep your snark to yourself, missy. ;)

Here's the new plan (screen shot from this post):
Ta da!  I'm going to leave comments on my own posts.  I've changed the styling for my comments (purple box around my name) so you'll be able to easily see when I've said something in the comment flow.

The biggest benefit of this new system is that answers to your comment-questions will be available to everyone.  Another benefit is that I can post one big THANK YOU, like I did above, and address several comments at once.

I feel bad about making you check back on my blog to see if I left a comment.  But then I think about how much time I spend answering comments, and I realize that this new system is a win-win situation.  I'll have more time to work on creating new free downloads, writing posts, and crafting ... which are all reasons you're here in the first place.

Another benefit is that people who haven't commented or people who never got a reply email from me will see that I actually do read your comments.  Too often people are shocked and surprised to hear from me.  I don't want to be thought of as some unreachable craft elitist.  I'm a totally normal-schmormal person.

OK (snort!)  I'm totally not normal.  But I'm not snobby. ;)

So this is my notice to you: all comments will be answered in the comments ... starting *now.*

You are totally free to email me personally any time.  And I mean it.  Any.  Time.

I think its a swell idea. It super that you wrote to everyone - but that is one huge undertaking. I still think that you must not sleep - how else can you get so much stuff done?!? :D

Oh, Amen! I'm in the same boat - I wish I could reply to everyone via email, but this hasn't been a reality for a while. I love your new solution. And just may borrow it. :-)

this will save you a lot of time :) I've seen a few different comment forms around, but none that really work that well for blogger :/

Jennifer ... I don't use blogger. I actually wrote this blog application myself, so I can change it to be anything I want. :) Do you have examples you could point to? I'm curious what my options are.

I'm also thinking of implementing a "Notify me of followup comments via e-mail" kind of thing. I've seen it on Wordpress blogs.

I've seen these 2 recently. Tried the Disqus one. Was a bit of a pain installing it on my blog though :/ The other one seems to working fine for people so far

Jennifer ... Awesome! Thanks for the links. I like the idea of threaded comments. Those are some nice implementations.

That's really cool. I don't expect a comment back ever but it's nice to know you try!
