Chain Mail Proof

First, I want to say that all the chain mail jokes made in my apartment are hilarious.  The best ones involve some reference to the Ren Faire and leave me in giggles.  Plus, he has a point.  Crochet garments usually *do* look a lot like chain mail.  And, just in case you don't believe me, check out these amazing chain mail specimens here, here, here, and ... just for fun ... va va voom peacock.

I think it totally rocks but if you still can't love it at least PA has an awesome Renaissance Faire you could wear it to!

PS. What's up with the cactus's?

Um, maybe some, er, embroidery or accessories would make it look, um, less battle-ready?

nah - I say go with a 'modern chainmail' theme and find a coat of arms pin to stick on it!

should I be embarrassed that I actually LOVE the shape of it ... AND the hint of chainmail-ish-ness?!?

I would say I like shape of it, I don`t like that you can see each beginning of the row (but I don`t know how to make it invisible), color is totally not cool and it is more reminding you about the chain mail look (I am sorry but this is only what I feel) and I would use some mat wool not shiny because the shiness (can say that?) of the yarn makes it even more like the knight`s armour

love your blog and your thoughts

but I still like this chain mail effect in crochet

I like it! But I kind of wish the sleeves were doing something different. It makes your shape show to lovely advantage and the color is wonderful!

I agree that the shape is awesome. I love the way it fits. But the sleeves/armhole situation is ridiculous. I feels so *Captain Kirk*. And I love the purple, shiny yarn, but the shine brings out the chain mail effect even more than another kind of yarn would.

Oh. I just realized that the reason that someone's brain would go to chain mail is the color. The periwinkle color is kinda close to silver or like... steel or whatever chain mail is made of. Probably would have the same effect if it were... red!

I guess you might have pointed that out... but I just wanted to say I still really like it even if it bears a slight resemblance to chain mail. :)
