Big Changes, Little Post

I could tell you all about ...
· our decision to move 2800 miles away
· the week of driving across country through winds, rain, snow, and sun
· what it feels like to feel like a vagabond
· putting down roots in a city where we were firmly planted years ago
But those stories either seem like the long-lost past or they are still being written.  All I can say is, "San Francisco!  Oh, how I missed you."

I relate so much to your post. My husband and I have relocated twice in the past 2 years. Each time to a new continent. each time farther away from our family and friends.

We are currently living in San Jose and treasure each step of the way!

Good luck with your new life in a new (old?) city!!!

How exciting is that?! Now you're on the same coast as me! Now I'll be able to actually visit all the awesome stores you tell us about :)

I totally understand how you feel. I moved from Singapore to Sydney, an 8 hour flight apart from my entire family, to start a new life with my husband. It was scary but equally as exciting to be in a new country and a very different culture. I hope you enjoy the feeling of "Oh, I haven't seen that before" for as long as you can. I miss that now. :)

Welcome back! I knew you were moving but didn't realize you were moving to my neck of the woods. If you are interested, you are invited to join our MeetUp group All About Stitches. We meet in Pleasant Hill (or thereabouts) each month. Nice ladies stitching, chatting and snacking!

For a second I thought you were going to say you moved to Portland and I was going to plan a trip to come visit right away! San Francisco is a wonderful city to live in though so I'm happy to hear you have moved back there...and in general to the west coast. What an adventure! What neighborhood are you in?

*jealous* I have lived in England for 10 years now but I desperately miss Northern California.. I grew up in Santa Rosa, and I miss it more than I thought I ever would.

I am so envious! I love my San Francisco, too! I have been living in NY for 16 years now and it will never compare...Good luck to you, but you won't need it. You are now living in the best city in the world!

San Francisco - I hope that you'll be really happy there. I've only ever driven through, but never got to explore. I've just been invited today to go there for a weekend, though - I'm dying to go, but not sure I've got the spare change or what I'll do with the offspring. Agh, I remember the days when I could just up and leave the country at will...

Wow, you didn't just move, you MOVED. Do you feel that sense of surreal-ness? That feeling that you're just visiting and it's an awful long visit? How nice that you've already lived there and loved it there! Have fun unpacking. :)

We MISSED you during the move. Glad it was a success. My husband worked at the SFPL for 16 years. We have lots of S.F. memories, though we never lived in the city proper. Now my son attends a Cordon Bleu institute there.

When you have time, check out the Luggage Store and 509 Cultural Center galleries. They do a wonderful job of supporting beginning artists (though not crafty types per se). The Greenlab/ Tenderloin National Park is a really fascinating project. It's adjacent to the 509.
Enjoy the foggy weather!!
