Would You Trust Him With Your Alterations/Repairs?

Bad signage mesmerizes me.  I'm dazzled by this guy's weirdness.  I've named him Edward Sausage Hands.  Where is he sewing on those pants?  How is he feeding the fabric with his fingertips?  He freaks me out. (of course I'm ignoring the cell phone color weirdness ...)

Then I started noticing all the other "Alterations/Repairs" graphics in town.

Then I started taking photos of them.

And now they are a set on my Flickr called Adventures in Signage

p.s.  I love wearing my measuring tape like that.  For real.  Love it.

haha! I love this post and the flickr set -- they are truely weird. I'm guess a non-sewing graphic artist is rendering what s/he thinks a sewer would look like.

this is acutally an excellent lesson in learning your subject before rendering it, isn't it!

I like wearing my tape measure around my neck also, very much! it makes me feel professional when I am sewing.

So THAT'S where I've been going wrong - I thought I was supposed to feed the fabric with my fingertips. That's the last time I get my sewing tips from a shop sign...

Haha... this greatly amused me. I love the sign set, and must agree that they are all quite creepy looking! Good thing I can make my own alterations!

And I, too, love to wear my tape measure around my neck! It makes me feel official. And awesome.

Hellz yeah that guy is creepy. Looks like Robin Williams in that One Hour Photo flick. Judging by the other two photos, though, you apparently can only be considered a master tailor when you have poor eyesight and properly sport your tape measure. Friggin' elitists. As for the knuckle lady (hilarious), I'm betting that she lost them in a freak hemming accident from using the same splayed-out technique the guy has. He's next in line for digit dismemberment, if you ask me.

One weird thing I noticed was that the women are wearing curvy tape measures, but the man's tape measure hangs straight. Very funny!

I love the signs!! I haven't found any fun signs, but the shop in my area that always makes me laugh in a completely juvenile way is "Wang's Tailor" :)

First of all, this post made me laugh out loud. Second of all- wouldn't it be a great adventure to run around a strange city with a couple of friends and hunt for weird signs then gather at a pub to discuss the treats? I LOVE weird signage. There's one here in town that gets me EVERY TIME I SEE IT:

"$5 Hot-n-Ready" a pizza sign. Makes me think of alley way prostitutes.

Yeah, I love this guy who looks like he already gotten one of his digits stuck on his needle.

No, I would NOT trust him.
