Gifts From Shannon

Shannon of Shanny Lee sent me a wonderful surprise box of goodies the week before Christmas.  And, despite the best efforts of UPS and my apartment building's concierge, I got the box in time to enjoy these goodies for the whole holiday vacation.
I know I'm in peril of becoming one of "those people."  You know, the ones that collect thing ... like owls.  OK, that's a lie.  I AM one of those people.  I'm a little ashamed precisely because I'm not ashamed at all.  I love owls ... LOVE!
And this teeny tiny owl necklace (from charm star) is one of the prized possessions in my slew of owl stuff.  Could it be any more adorable?!  And just look at that packaging!  Felt bird stickers ... be still my heart.
And here is a glass owl-bird hybrid ornnment with purple and yellow detailing.  And jewels.  Amazing.  I'm such a sucker for ornaments.  I think I might have to construct some kind of year-round ornament holder, because I'm amassing quite an ornament collection.
The highlight of the package is this print of one of her illustrations.  Is this peacock amazing or what?  Here is her post about the peacock.  I wish I had even half of her drawing skill ... a fourth ... a teeny tiny bit.  I absolutely love this!
The best part is that she sent it framed, so all I had to do was put a nail in the wall and it was up where I can look at it every day. (Everything to the right of the peacock is Andrew's stuff ... the clash, mark lanegan, and a postcard from Thailand).  We're starting to encroach on each other's space.  I need more craft wall!)

Thank you Shannon!  I love it all to pieces!

A friend of mine has an ocotillo cactus skeleton (ex.: http://flickr.com/photos/11268570@N00/3163448232/) as a year-round tree in his house. It's pretty great. Although one could do something more local, of course. Around here, I would probably use a madrone or manzanita branch (ex. http://flickr.com/photos/8606532@N04/2375839705/).

I'm becoming an owl lover as of late! Your fascination for them is catching!

Our son loves owls now, too, and says "hoo, hoo, hoo" anytime he sees one (we google pictures for them)!

I love the embroidery piece of the owl on the branch. Would you be willing to send me a larger picture of this? I would love to make one!

I too love owls, even though my 'collection' isn't very big (yet, anyway.) You have some really awesome and adorable stuff, though.

The mini owl pendant is precious. Everyone loves owls.
I remember those ceramic owls that were made into lamps...back in the day. I don't think I am that old!!
I found your blog on my way to searching for fabric. But glad I ended up here. Very lovely blog.
